This Riff side is easily the best defensive unit I have ever seen. They will go down as one of the best teams in NRL history. What makes them so special is that they have achieved their success without purchasing a single superstar from another club. API is the only real star they bought in recent times. The new stadium, huge league's club, and junior nursery will ensure they remain an NRL powerhouse for years to come. The club is so well run from top to bottom. It sucks living out this way and being a Manly supporter.
Yes I agree but these things do tend to go in cycles , and let’s remember they were pretty ordinary for a lot of years and whilst they have a huge nursery it doesn’t mean that nursery is full of Nathan Cleary’s

Whilst I don’t disagree , boy you must be the life of any party !!

Clearly the top team , at full strength, is going to give a team ,sitting in the bottom 8, busted , full of injuries and without their major star a touch up.

But I bet you won’t give them one iota of credit for having a crack , you’ll just pick apart , and highlight the negatives as you always do.

I on the other hand will continue to look for the little positives , give credit where credit is due , and also applaud the opposition ( who currently are a team of absolute champions) .

Honestly , it makes for a more enjoyable experience and you should try it sometime.
i give praise when we do well and score a good try etc mate, people must not notice tho

I guess i’ll start being more positive when we have something to be positive about, Pretty much been a basket case of a club since Tooves was sacked

No I have seen the occasional positive statement , so I’ll grant you that.

But haven’t seen you start a positive thread yet , so that’s a goal for you !!

It’ll be a very low rating game , most Manly fans will record it and only watch if we are competitive, most Panfers fans know it’ll be a win so they’ll be off watching the Barbie movie or something at least interesting.

It must be so bloody boring when you know your side is going to win EVERY week !!
One of those game you watch, but don't get upset or emotional watching it.

Sometimes it's good to dream. But really, would we even have anything to lose by just doing everything we can different this week?

I'm talking new faces. Definitely a change at no 6. If we ain't got our big men, the universe is sending us a signal brother. To many of those big slow sucker aren't getting us very far any way. Give way to that force. I'm talking the lightest fastest forwards we can muster.

Off loads and second phase, no point to die wondering. Hell why not even let Jackie have a run at 9 or a Toby at 1!

Do everything different like DCE actually game managing and looking for repeat sets at the attacking end.

Let's go into this one planning a surprise attack making those black cats chase us all day, may fortune favour the brave.

No point just going through the motions of defeat.

I'm with @Mark from Brisbane . Sometimes all you can expect is for the guys to have a crack.

We're undermanned and playing the probable premiers. It's not exactly a big call to say it would be an upset of epic proportions.

Sadly they just have us covered in every single department.

Getting $1.44 for Penrith 13+ sounds like stealing money to me.

There's also often an imbalance on the good/bad statements (not necc directed at soup here)

good: Hey, that's a great try!

Manly drop a ball: we suck, we're the stupidest worst dumbest team in the universe, sack everyone, we're getting the spoon!!!!!!

I don’t think there’s any doubt at what the result of this weeks game will be with the top team up against our busted up , last man standing team of strung together average players ( bar a couple ) but what I really hope is they give it a crack.

May as well throw caution to the wind ( nothing to lose ) , try a few different things , spread the ball a bit more , a few chip & chases , kick on the 1st tackle , really anything to unsettle the opposition.

If we just go out and play a normal game we’ll get slaughtered , so we may as well get slaughtered having some fun.

Who knows , instead of being beaten 54-6 it might only be 44-12.

44-12 is a good shout. It feels like one of those games where we are 30-0 down at HT and the Pennies take their foot off in the 2nd half - plus a bonus to be playing this one at Brookie.

Without going over old ground I also think we would be much better balanced if we had Latu playing 5/8 (defensively much better than Schu already). Drop Kelma and put Ben T in the 2nd row to start and bring Schu off the bench.

Do you know how hard it is to get an offload away against the Riff, they swarm up in defence and have a player on the side who sweats on you to offload in traffic, it's easer said than done, but I get your drift.

Seib's wont allow it, just strikes me as a coach that follows through with his preconceived tactics and the way he wants us to play, no matter what.

I actually see this as an opportunity knocks game for the boys. We are well down on troops in the engine room and again minus our best ever attacking player and not surprisingly, everyone writing us off. So we have absolutely nothing to loose here. Ideal game for the boys to make a statement. I like the way the Shu got involved in the last 15 minutes of the Roosters game last week. IF he can extend that to 30-40 minutes then we are in with a good chance. If he can extend that to most of the game, I think we win. He could really worry the "swarming" Penrith defence with his variations in play. Perfect game for him to make a long awaited statement.

ps. i remind everybody that only 2 weeks ago Collingwood were supposed to thrash Carlton in the AFL and were at incredibly short odds also. One Collingwood supporter actually put a cool $1m down on the pies he was so confident. Carlton won. Was not a miracle. Just great concerted play from the often maligned Carlton boys.

Great way to lose a million , what a dickhead.

Put the lube aside feathered friends and be optimistic that a win is possible

The fact is
The Panthers are beatable
The Wooden spoon Tigers beat Panthers
We have a much better team of players than the tigers
We can win this game
It is up to us
No one can beat us without our concent
