Team Lists

I am a huge advocate for as little team disruption as possible so my 8-17 would be:

Jake
Frog
Tapau
Guac
Shoo
Lawton

Walker
Aoli
Sirro/De Luis or Zac if he is good to go
Burbo

Jake still plays middle but Lawton shares first-receiver duties and Shoo stays on his edge. Zac would be good for prop rotation if he is ready....our bench is underweight against the Squeels big pack without him.

Mahoney is a HUGE out for them in attack and defence but we need to be on Dylan Brown.
The pack looks better with Sipley starting.

Sipley
Frog
Tapau
Guac
Shoo
Jake

Walker
Lawton
Aoli
Sirro/De Luis

I'm not feeling all the Sipley love. I'm glad that he got off so he can play because he is a step up from his replacements but I still think the prop rotation is our weakness. Not so much from an offensive standpoint but between Taupau, Sipley and Paseka, their are some defensive deficiencies.

I still think the prop rotation should be the recruitment focus. Sipley lacks mobility and is exposed at times. Paseka is so big, he loses his feet at times and Marty is still rocks and diamonds like every other year. We need a stable, solid leader up front who turns up every week with the same level of intensity and professionalism. I wanna know what we are gonna get each week from the forwards.

do it for Sterlo..!

NRL legend Peter Sterling will reportedly quit his commentary duties at Channel 9 at the end of this season.

According to the Daily Telegraph, he has informed management and colleagues of his decision to step out of the commentary box.

Sterlo must coach Eels

Call me a loony but I’d be starting Sironen at 13 and shifting Jake to prop to start the game as Toff is out for 1 week.

The way I see it, we only have 2 big middles in Marty and Aloiai who can truck up big metres and bend the line. Against a big pack with Paulo and Brown, if we sub off Marty and Aloiai for Sironen and De Luis we will be losing the game in those latter 20 min stints...

Jake to play 60 as a prop with Lawton to take his first receiver duties when he needs a breather.

Backline as is. Pack:
13 Trbojevic
9 Croker
10 Taupau
11 Olakau’atu
12 Schuster
16 Sironen

8 Aloiai
14 Walker
15 Lawton
17 De Luis

18 Suli
Ok you’re a loony!

just sayin’

Sipley didn't get a fine. It was 1 week with the early plea, which he has taken so will miss this weekend's game.

its weird on nrl.com

First part says

Warriors props Matt Lodge (two games) and Kane Evans (one game and $2750 in fines), and Manly's Toafofoa Sipley (one game) have accepted their fates

Then this
PlayerTofoafoa Sipley
ClubSea Eagles
Time Minute of Match12th
Charge/IncidentCrusher tackle
Charge Grade1
ResultGuilty - early plea
Matches to serve0
Points/Fine calculation180
Carry-over points80
Misconduct on whom?Dale Finucane

If Siro started at lock after missing the whole year he'd be lucky to last 15 minutes.
Problem is none of our back ups have match fitness. DeLuis probably will get a go for that reason, the other spot will be between Siro, Jetski and Saddler and probably come down to who has been showing most at training?

Yep he's gone for a match (100 points) and still has 80 carry over points, so any further slips ups this year and he'll miss more.

would be good to get Suli in the mix there somewhere , be surprised if he would take Brad "s place just for now but maybe could still be accommodated on the bench . Even if it required Olokau - atu to spend a bit of time at prop . Shoe could play a bit of 13 but doubt that Des would be prepared to alter things too much . Probably may opt for Siro but would certainly contend that Suli would give much more benefit then Siro or De luis .

Siro looked underdone but needs some game time and I'd prefer him on the field in the opening 15 minutes to defend well and try set up some play in the middle.

If we have Aloiai and Marty starting, and then sub in De Luis with Dylan/Siro/Lawton etc we will get carved up the middle by their big boys whilst Marty and Aloiai are off.

People are underestimating Parra... they were the last team to beat the storm and may be off game but they have Moses, Gutho, Brown and their big pack. If we are complacent they'll beat us.

I agree, we need 2 of Aloiai, Marty, Jake in the middle at all times.

I for one love to underestimate Parra and be complacent they are Slime and scum.. lucky for us im not the one out there playing… im sure Des doesnt take his mental strategies off this forum 🤣

My feelings as well, having 3 big bodies out Paseka, Sipley and Keepie is not ideal against a desperate Parra. Our backline will not let us down though and is injury free, it is what it is and we will rise to the challenge.

Des is certainly more of an "err on the side of experience" kind of coach, so I think DeLuis and Sirro will come up.

DeLuis has had a number of games now under his belt so his match fitness would be ahead of Jetski and Saddler, while Sirro has the experience Des prefers regardless of his questionable fitness.

You watch Jetski and Saddler get named now...

Not that I observe with an expert eye, but the times I've seen DeLuis he has looked pretty solid to me. Not fast or dynamic but makes solid hit-ups, haven't seen him rag dolled or bumped off when tackling. He's a good next man up (or at least next next next man )
