I think Walker needs to start centre this week. Parker's solid, played well all year, but when the game gets tough, he's usually the first one to put in the poor performance. Need spark in the centres to beat the good teams, and while Parker tries, he's usually the obvious standout when we don't perform well for the wrong reasons.
We will win this game comfortably either way, the ref usually backs off the week after they ruin one of our matches.

I agree with what you are saying but Des wont budge in that respect. Too dependent upon retaining stability in his structure.. Walker will be on the bench I would say.

That's the way I'm thinking also, Besides, Parker is a excellent defender and probably needs to be on Sivos side. Not sure Walker wanted to be in the grind of the forward exchanges, keep him on the bench for mine.

Shoe to lock
Jake to prop
Lawton to 2nd row
Perhaps Suli on the bench?
Doesn't matta will try to win the match through their big forwards. We are without Keppie, Tent and Sippers so I fear having the lightweight Walker playing as a forward, whereas Suli is a big boy and can come on as a forward or back.
My understanding is that Tenterfield and Davey are nearing a return. Both are big men and I wonder if either are ready to tackle Doesn'tmatta?

Where did you hear Davey ? Isn't he out for the season ?

Ah yes he is too dependent. And too conservative.
If only, if only we had a strong adventurous coach who would try something different.
Oh wait...doh!

Not a criticism intended SER8. It was just an expression that some see it different from others. Thing is there may not be a correct answer. Walker at centre may do brilliantly, but he may not. Parker may have a super game, but the he may not. But it was in no way criticism of Des, it was merely stating that that is how he tends to see things, and though I may think differently about some of his actions, I respect the fact that he knows what he is doing.

I’d leave Walker on the bench and give Suli a crack at left centre. But yep, I agree we need to look at other options than Parker. He was always getting picked for his defence but his errors put pressure on our defence and in the last few weeks has been done for pace on the outside.

Suli and Walker both have way more natural ability as centres. Give one of them a go.

Clearly we'll be undermanned in the forwards, however if we can get an even share of possession and go close to matching them, their edge defense is pretty fragile - Particularly their right side where Tom like to attack out towards Garrick's wing.

All good, just seemed a little ironic the way you worded it, he is too stuck in his ways to put Walker back to centre!
Looking at his modus operandi over the years, Des forms a strong view at the start of a season and is very mindful of the benefits of continuity and stability in a side. He does make changes but not very many (eg 2008 Glenn Hall forced his way into the team towards the end, during 2011 T Rex was transitioned to the second row). However he's never struck me as a coach who makes choices just to see if they work out. That is why I expect those calling for Walker to centre will be disappointed, I think the current Walker role is a definite part of the overall plan for this year. I guess we'll all find out soon enough 🙂

My only issue with that is that suli is lazy.
He is a monster when he's on, but he's only "on" once every half dozen games or so.. Walker is less dynamic than suli at his best, but is more consistent overall..
