I find it strange that modern-day coaches always load their interchange with forwards. We all saw what happened to Souffs when their fullback was injured; they had no suitable replacement so he became a passenger.
Yes, I know, that forwards are probably more likely to get injured than backs, but the fact is that there are only six forwards in the 13, and seven backs.
So using that logic I would think that having two forwards and two backs on the interchange bench was the sensible split more often than not.

I think 3 forwards is right if you have a utility like Hastings who covers half, hooker and the backline. Brown can't cover the backline effectively, nor can Cullen (other than half). Thats why someone like Craig Wing was awesome to have off the bench. Tyrone Peachy is another great utility off the bench. I believe Hastings can be a perfect fit for this role. I expect to see him come into the side soon enough.
