Lewis Brown played in all 26 games for us in 2016 and most in the starting side due to the injuries that we had
So looking at his stats in 26 games the New Zealand International
Made only 2 lines breaks all season
Made 1 try assist all season
scored 2 tries all season
Averaged 6 hit ups a game
Averaged 16 tackles a game
Averaged 53 meters a game.
The club is having another spring clean up at the end of 2017

Last year Dylan Walker

Average tackles 13.61 (Brown 16)
Average hit-ups 9.3 (Brown 6)
Try assists 1 (Brown 1)
Line Breaks 6 (Brown 2)

On those stats you wouldn't have Walker in the Harold Matts.
****, imagine if Brown had played full games.

Gutted I will miss the first game - I will be on a plane to Melbourne....could not be worse
mate ill be in strathfeild linemarking, head down arse up with not even a phone for updates. This is worse .

I'm far from a fan of Lewis Brown BUT to be totally fair to the man he was thrown from pillar to post last year, hardly ever playing one game in one spot, and sometimes playing part of the game as a forward and then the rest as a back.

Do I think he's one of our champions.......no, do I think he's a reasonably valuable utility.........yes.

Until Hastings or perhaps Cullen prove themselves in NSW cup I'd say he's got the Utility role until he loses it (which may be after one week but lets give him a chance shall we???).

As the week rolls on I'm feeling a little more confident of the result of Sundays game, and I don't really know why, but I just have this sneaking suspicion that our team will really put in for round 1, and do their very best to get a win over the arch enemy that's been our nemesis for the last 2 years.

2 days and counting!!

You won't be line marking or line dancing in the rain old mate. Turn up, get your 4, then into the rubbity.

Can we bring back the flogging a dead horse emoticon?

Sad to hear about fathers committing suicide and sad to see players not committing to their 300 plus thousand dollars a year contact . When a player does not have his heart body and soul in the game he does not do himself or his team any favours.
Like all Manly players I wish he has a great year but I do believe he is past it .

You say he is a reasonable utility player, then you say he was thrown from a pillar to post playing part of a game as a forward and part as a back . Isn't that what a quality utility player supposed to do and perform ? Peachy at Penrith was thrown form pillar to post last year as well and he made the most from the pillar to post in man of the match winning performances .
The difference between quality utility players like Peachy and Brown is that When Peachy takes the field he makes an impact and when Brown takes the field he only make a presence ...........
We have also seen Brown cover full games in the forwards and he lacked impact and we have seen him cover full games in the backs and he lacked pace and his defense out wide with his arm grabbing style was like a turn style .
We will agree to disagree feathered friend 🙂

When is the team reduced from the 21 named? And are we expecting any surprises. If it is 24 hours that will be soon.

I find it strange that modern-day coaches always load their interchange with forwards. We all saw what happened to Souffs when their fullback was injured; they had no suitable replacement so he became a passenger.
Yes, I know, that forwards are probably more likely to get injured than backs, but the fact is that there are only six forwards in the 13, and seven backs.
So using that logic I would think that having two forwards and two backs on the interchange bench was the sensible split more often than not.

Is there much difference between a centre and a back rower these days ? Move a back rower from the bench to the centres so one of the other backs can play fullback . Better than having a one legged injured back on the field
