Game Day: Manly v Eels [Round 1, 2017]

Had a lot of deja vu listening to this game....

Poor refereeing...

Poo making stupid mistakes...

Poor discipline...

Poor ball control...

DCE apparently unseen..

Fmd!

Apparently even Bill Harrigan on MMM was hammering on about how bad Atkins was today and most of it was about his lack of getting doesn't-matta back onside in defense.

It was obvious even on TV - they're pretty careful about not showing the defensive line very often, but there's no way every Parramatta player is quicker than Usain Bolt. And there was a dead obvious one they did show, on the 5th tackle - not a single Parra player was in line with the ref, so what did he do? Scooted forward so he was in line with them!

Just diabolical ball control.
Which really ruined it for us. The grubs had enough going their way to have won by 60.
Stripped balls, offside and an out of his depth ref who made it easy for them, we did enough defence for 3 games.
If I was Trent I'd see if tasers come under the salary cap because every time they drop the ball that's what they'd get.

Nein showed one wide shot at about the 70 minute mark. Atkins was back 8 metres, the Speels defence was 2 metres IN FRONT of him and he let it go.

I think I strained an eye muscle after doing such a mega eye roll when the ref said to dce..."Oh I made a mistake, said sorry , lets move on."

Yeah well, you penalise players for their mistakes! Have the courage just to go "oops, a **** up....change decision."

Your little mistake and request for us to get over it led to 5 straight sets on our try line.

Anyone else notice how Parra play the ball in our 10?

They place it, then take a step forward stifling the defender.😡

Poor Jake got a penalty against him in the 1st half. Even Gus pointed out how the defender was crowded, Jake had nowhere to go as he was on his goal line.

What about the sheperd when he just lays there why arnt they just giving the penalty we were disadvataged then they get the advantage ???
Because the NRL thinks it's fans only come to see trys scored so let the attacking team get away with every and punish the defensive team every chance they get

Yes it appears to be that way
I just cant understand it if you just drop to the ground you get away with it
The other problem would be if you did nothing and he got up and scored can you take that chance that they go back to the sheperd and disallow the try ?

Just falling to the ground to avoid being penalised is a voluntary tackle anyway......so should be a penalty either way

Everyone else hear, the referee says to Jake and DCE, "well, if I made a mistake, I made a mistake, get over it".

That, is completely unprofessional, because after he gave that penalty, they went down field and scored, meaning that mistake basically decided the outcome of the game.

Thought's?

Look.....

It's good for us and all the other clubs to know that even though Parra is a habitual salary cap cheating, women abusing, denialists; that toddy has given them this years 'Leg up specials' award so the bogan supporters out west can finally have a premiership.

Remember this was supposed to be last year but the nrl had to change tack to cronulla when Parra just kept Parra'ing themselves.

We need Parra to teach us how to strip the ball and never get pinged, how to stsand offside and never get pinged, and walk off the play the ball area and....never get pinged.

(Actually the answer is: become a toddy fav, so no hope there.)

Ah, and it might help if we learn not to drop the ball so much.

Decisions today were a disgrace in general....including Radradra take off Kelly's head ....the time he was not held and played the ball????
A 100 forward passes in the ruck....holding Manly players down for 7 seconds - hand on ball - creating lost ball which should have been penalties ect...ect

You are 100% on the money
My problem in this case....as in any game...don't let 1 decision cost a game....
Thing is ...there were several poor calls that really made a difference today
Watch next week when we get a fair shot....EVERYONE here will compliment Barrett and the team in general

Or Scott standing in front of the ruck when the Faecals attack near our line, inhibiting the defenders.
