Confirmation from Manly that they plan to rest Tom Trbojevic from their Round 18 game on Friday night, just 48 hours after Origin 3. Was expected considering sudden workload spike it would’ve caused. There is hope Daly Cherry-Evans will back up

Noooooooo
No no no no no

This is such a crucial game we need to win on Friday.

So Freddy gets Turbo for all 3 games and we lose him for 2 and we are ones payinh his wage.

Well dragons now are favourites in my eyes after what I saw last week.

Tom is out:

We were bog average against the Raiders, and I think we missed DCE the most last week.

The passes were all one-out from the ruck, into a one-out play for most of the game. The finesse was gone, no creativity. Reminded me of how Parra played against us when we won 28-6.

I know the conditions were greasy against the Raiders, but it didn't affect their ball security. Some of the passes DCE threw against the Dogs were top shelf and gave the outside backs space. Nothing like that happened against the raiders (and admittedly the one side we kept going was stunted by Suli in attack)

Schuster back is a massive in.

Sorry to say that GoJetSki out was necessary, and guy shouldn't be back after that Raiders game. Suli got his try running a good line, but the kid had a showing that he will be having nightmares about, he blunted the attack on that side and butchered a rare break in the 2nd half, not to mention his falcon.

Garrick's drop-outs are pretty average, hope he isn't called upon for a 2-pt field-goal anytime soon as he wouldn't get the length. Would be better off skying drop-out restarts to Saab's wing

Last week we would have lost to the Dogs with that amount of possession against us, and the defensive workload imposed with the repeat-sets. Canberra weren't even great, but showed what you can do with a high completion rate, forced repeat sets and patience. The tries scored against us were soft, but took advantage of our gassed players.

We should beat the Saints, but we should have beaten the Raiders too. Adversity has this weird way of galvanising League players, and if Saints get a sniff - after the fortnight they had - they will get that enthusiasm to make this a rare positive from a fortnight of (deserved) negatives. At the same time the Eagles boys' heads go down if that happens.

I hope last week was a rare hiccup, not a symptom of life without Tom - as that makes our claim to be title contenders farcical.

We just gave the dragons the biggest leg up they could hope for. Seriously even with DCE back and Josh dragons will have motivation, hook will have the them up for this.

Dragons by 1-12

Sorry have to say last week was not just a one off.

I fear Friday, even with DCE back and Josh that won't be enough. We just can't play decent footy without him.

Certainly wasn't a one-off based off last year, but i'm giving the benefit of the doubt on the newer team members like Schuster, Sipley, Keppie, Harper and the like, who haven't been an on-field part of the Tom-less capitulations of 2020.

A performance like the Cowboys game vs the Raiders game is what i'm looking at here for recent examples.

Given it is forecast to be wet on Friday in Brisbane though, i'm expecting a grindy kind of game like the Raiders game, not an expansive game like the Cowboys...

I find it interesting that they have 4 players in the reserves in that squad that could potentially be cut in favour of the players who have a suspension over their head. I thought the players with suspensions over their heads could only play because otherwise the Dragons wouldnt have been able to field a 17?
V'landys needs arse kicking over the feather duster treatment of these grubs, is he a saints supporter or what?

Current squad on form Parker and Harper warrant their place as starting centres (although Im not against Walker regaining one centre spot)

Lawton is on the bench as utlity. He has performed amazing well in the back row, way better than Siro and jetski have played there over the past 2 years. Can also cover hooker, half, centre so I think his versatility on the bench is needed and as we are short in the forwards. I really like him playing there. Where would you have him play?

Shuster is the starting back rower while foran is healthy

Keppie is only playing lock due to Jake being injured and we also have plenty of other forwards injured. He has to play there this week. No one else of first grade quality

Crocker I think has been our most improved player this year, his defence has been amzing this year and finally starting to play a bit of eyes up footy and play like a hooker. He holds that position without doubt, especially with Lawton needed in the forwards.

My only concern is Jetski and Suli on the bench. Personally would have Burbo over Jetski and would play Funa at full back if required and not move garrick from the wing and keep parker and harper in the centres. Suli is still to lazy ATM and parker can be found wanting moving him to wing and is to slow and cannot finish a try like garrick can.
Wtf is it with Haslers obsession with jetski and suli?
