Look at the bench this week, Ben's played light's out better than De Luis.

What's the mindset on the bench?

  • Best centre Walker at the club playing utility
  • Lawton 5/8 and specialist Hooker playing forward (backrow likely)
  • Schuster, specialist 5/8, playing backrow (get this one to accommodation Foz)
  • Playing a prop in Keppie at lock
  • Playing 1/2 back and 5/8 in Croker at Hooker (player everyone bashes for it)

If Des thinks he's being clever, he's not. We've been flogged by Knights and Raiders of late, with Des and his interesting selections.

Unsure what you changing the subject directly to, and about me, has to do with anything whatsoever? Defection maybe ?

Apart from trying to make yourself feel better ?

Yes, I want players to play in their best position. Where they excel the most.

No, I don't want Dylan Walker playing halfback.

Yes, Ben Trbojevic in the bench as a backrow replacement would be great.

Yes, Karl Lawton would make a fantastic 9 and 14, to cover Hooker, half, or backrow.

If you reply, try and stay on target.
So firstly you are annoyed Walker is playing utility.....butvthrn just not playing halfback?

You are annoyed Lawton is named on the bench "playing backrow likely" but then fantastic on the bench to cover hooker backrow and half.

Your annoyance at, in your view, a imbalanced bench makes you want to drop a prop and pup a backrower on the bench?

Obviously I'm a bit slow so what changes would you make to the team named this week?

I don't want Walker player EITHER utility or halfback. I don't want him playing 5/8 either. I want him playing centre.

Honestly, while Croker has been fantastic this year, I'd actually start Lawton at 9, and maybe play either Cust or Croker in the 14 jumper.

So my bench would be;

14. Cust / Croker (Utility)
15. Tof Sipley (prop)
16. Sean Keppie (prop)
17. Ben Trbojevic (backrow)

I'd play Schuster at Lock (position most akin to 5/8) so he can float both sides of the field. Unlock him. He also has the size.

Just a little tidbit on Croker

50 games

19 off the bench (almost exclusively cover hooker)
16 at hooker
15 at 5/8

0 at half

If Schuster is lock, Lawton hooker and Keppie and Burbo on the bench who is our left edge backrower?

A backrower ! Play Ben Trbojevic if we need to. Has size, has speed (we saw that a few weeks ago backing up his brother). It's his position.

We saw how we dared when Des was forced to put faith in youth through injury.

Lawton is more explosive out of dummy half, and his passes quicker, so our outside backs should get quality ball faster, which would node well for Ben.

And what do you know? Players in their preferred positions.

Do you get what I'm saying?

Mate, you're being a smart arse now, and it's not very becoming of you. You know very well that he played for NSW in Origin and Australia at halfback (including time at Canberra through the grades).

I certainly disagree, but hey, that is the beauty of a forum

C'mon we are counting schoolboys......oooft that is reaching.

Does the fact Walker played the utility role for NSW in state of Origin (not the kids stuff) help your argument?

You disagree with players playing in their natural positions? Fair enough.

If DCE pulls out, enjoy Walker at Halfback again.

You get what you wish for.

He also played in the centres (you know, when he was also getting selected to play for Australia, and City Origin) because he dominated the position ......

Point our where I advocated for Walker at halfback?

I disagree that the position a player played in under 20s, or schoolboys or even the early years of their career locks that in as their natural position.

Lawrence, Wiki, Capewell were centres.

Cronk got moulded into a halfback.

Lockyer and Munster were fullbacks.

Could go on and on

Okay, we've had the debate now. At least we are back on track topic wise, so thank you.

I still think some of Des team choices are outrageous, and I still think given the squad, we should be better than 54%

Here's my FULL strength YART so this should tell you my base and bones:

01. Tom Trbojevic
02. Jason Saab
03. Morgan Harper / Moses Suli
04. Dylan Walker / Brad Parker
05. Reuben Garrick / Tevita Funa
06. Kieran Foran
07. Daly Cherry-Evans
08. Marty Taupau
09. Manase Fainu / Karl Lawton
10. Taniela Paseka
11. Haumole Olakau'atu
12. Josh Schuster / Curtis Sironen
13. Jake Trbojevic

14. Karl Lawton / Cade Cust / Lachlan Croker
15. Sean Keppie / Zac Saddler / Morgan Boyle
16. Josh Aloiai / Toafofoa Sipley
17. Andrew Davey / Ben Trbojevic

Good squad.

Danger game

Looks like the team were hardly punished for their indiscretions for the Manly game. Vaughn the ringleader is out (um because he was sacked, but I'm suprised he wasnt allowed to play anyway given it is Manly who are the opponent), and then you have Dufty (who would not have played anyway) and two blokes I have never heard of.

So much for punishment.

Imagine if Manly had have done this?. I would expect forfeit points for the rest of the season.

I'll take a one point win and no injuries. Go Manly.

If everyone was fit this would be my team as well - albeit will be for 2022 now. Good looking side IMO. Very rare for a side to have ALL players fully fit but would be nice to see.

On 360 last night it was mentioned by hoops

with 2 players not coming up to bubble lomax and other player
Vaughan gone

other players injured or suspended

dragons are going to field 7/8 players who will need to miss one week coming up Against us.

seriously we are going to get no benefit and play a dragons team out to prove a point.

major danger on Friday and dragons know it. The win they will jump level with us on competition points and if we win we go 2 games clear in 6th. Huge Huge game.

like you said manly by 1 will be enough.

we lose on Friday night we fall right back into the pack in the race for a top 8 spot.
