Match Stats

Yep. Walker and Sippers.
Our bench should be The Lawman, Tent, Keppie and SirLoin.
We need to have strong forwards to compete with the top three teams. With clever use we can rotate our props and second rowers and give The Shoe and Guaca rests so that they can come back refreshed if we are chasing points.
The Lawman is much more solid than Walker and we don't need both on the bench.
Sirro should be dropped for his Keppie impersonation, it hardly fooled anyone🙂

DCE was good
Walker was good
Tapau was good
Schuster was slick
Haumole was good
Harper was good
Fox was good
Lawton was good

It wasn't just Turbo
Well I think DCE was average today
Walker - good
Tapau - good
Schuster - average
Haumole - too much messing around instead of running onto the ball from the boundary
Harper was ok
Foz - good
Aloiai - very good
Saab - terrible
Turbo - not at his best
Lawnton - seemed ok
Jake... was Jake
Parker - nothing - no errors but was just a zero
Garrick.... nothing

We had quite a few tired players out there today. It looks like Harper needs a rest and so does Croker. Obviously Paseka and Keppie need to play some serious minutes as well, Paseka as starting prop and Keppie in the prop rotation off the bench. I think Des needs to go with Lawton next week as an 80 minute hooker. Suli should also play a whole game as right centre. Starting props are Taupau and Paseka. Sironen drops out. Bench is Walker, Aloiai, Keppie, Sipley. Taupau does 25 minutes, and then depending on the situation sits out the rest of the game. Thoughts?
If Parra and Roosters lose we should rest the whole team. Problem is we won't know that until 10pm Friday, less than 24h out from our game, which means we have to cut our squad to 19. I agree Harper and Croker are top of the list of players that need a rest, along with Chez, Foz, Shoe and Sipley.

Keppie and Paseka will need extra minutes prior to finals footy, they should start and play as long as possible. Lawton should play big minutes at hooker. Suli should be named to rest Harper. Cust on the extended bench until we know the result of the previous games.

Just had to show this from The Kennel 's thread "Apologise"........................................."I apologise to my neighbours for the filthy language emanating from my lounge room each weekend since March."...🙂

It was an unconvincing performance overall.

Sometimes you get a game like this when we miss chances narrowly and we pay a price by conceding back to back tries that turned an 8-0 lead kick to come to a 4-12 deficit.

Saab had to score that try and it really put us behind the 8 ball for a while.

Canterbury showed up, did their homework on our left side attack and forced us into changing things by having runners like Tommy come inside.

The dogs showed a lot of commitment in defense and their scramble saved them a few tries. Manly were a bit impatient in the first half and it did have a whiff of complacency which is understandable after the last time we played them.

What I liked about after the 4-12 deficit is Manly simplified their game, got a few resets and earned the right to be more expansive.

The 2nd half started with decent control and then the bunker got a couple of things terribly wrong. Tom did not score that try. he knew it, the world knew it and the bunker screwed it up badly. Big Josh should never have been binned for lashing out when all he tried to do is play the ball fast. You see that in every game.

For 20 minutes it was a real battle. The score stayed the same and frankly the score line in the end did not reflect the battle that was going on.

The difference was we had the finish and they did not. Tommy imposed himself as usual and the points flowed accordingly.

In the end, we take the 2 points and by the time we are due to play next we will know our fate regarding the top 4 and Easts and Parra have difficult games. If they slip up it will be interesting if Des rests a few guys for week 1.

We all know it was not a great performance and to think that after a 0-4 start we are now in the top 4. You would have got long odds on that.

Outside of Aloaia, not many positives to come out of this game. In my opinion, Suli needs to come in for Parker, Lawton’s options attacking the line from dummy half were questionable today but once again his defence was outstanding - agree he needs some more time in there, Walker was good and Sironen looks more mobile as a middle forward than Sipley or Keppie

I'm glad the dogs brought a bit of mongrel today. Our boys have been going it a bit easy of late and maybe complacency was starting to set in. They need a couple of tough games especially before the finals to keep the mindset that any team on its day can win.

Haha, we expect so much every game from tom, only 260mts, 3 trys, 4 line breaks today, imagine if he played good

One of the tensest matches I've watched this year. Possibly due to Parra winning last night.
The heart was racing. Guilty of expecting too much from a team who was dead last on the ladder and are now in the top four.
The commentary was despicable as usual. Bloody idiots.
Go Manly!

We are just lulling the top 3 into a false sense of security, thinking they'll just have to turn up to win.
Dessie master class. Storm or Panthers won't know what hit em. 😀
I like your style @Cliffymagic It's been a weekend of strategic masterclasses by Hasler & Bellamy, cleverly disguised as poor performances. Clearly, Cleary wasn't on the same script, or the Panthers team only followed that script for the early part of the match. The Eels were obviously confused with this approach as they went 5 weeks early. Bennett's Rabbitohs mixed up poor performances with ego driven destructive arrogance - Exhibit A - Latrell
I wonder what next week will bring us?

Disagree, it was never in doubt 😁
