Barrett never mentioned the reserve grade level 5th tackle options or gaping holes back on the inside as factors in the loss.

Look, it'd be hard to resist the temptation of looking towards the finals instead of concentrating on the game at hand. Clearly we were nowhere near our best. We kept making mistakes and getting in each other's way. But we won and the Bulldogs lost, so that's two things to be grateful for. And we didn't pick up any injuries. Plenty of things to work on but still plenty to be happy about.

Who you dropping mate? Please don't say Dylan Walker !!
Yep. Walker and Sippers.
Our bench should be The Lawman, Tent, Keppie and SirLoin.
We need to have strong forwards to compete with the top three teams. With clever use we can rotate our props and second rowers and give The Shoe and Guaca rests so that they can come back refreshed if we are chasing points.
The Lawman is much more solid than Walker and we don't need both on the bench.

We had quite a few tired players out there today. It looks like Harper needs a rest and so does Croker. Obviously Paseka and Keppie need to play some serious minutes as well, Paseka as starting prop and Keppie in the prop rotation off the bench. I think Des needs to go with Lawton next week as an 80 minute hooker. Suli should also play a whole game as right centre. Starting props are Taupau and Paseka. Sironen drops out. Bench is Walker, Aloiai, Keppie, Sipley. Taupau does 25 minutes, and then depending on the situation sits out the rest of the game. Thoughts?
I like this a lot.

We were crap today for most of the match. Lets not delude ourselves into thinking that we were not. The stats don't lie. On a positive note we can definitely turn this around next week.
If we played that way in the first week of the finals I'd be really concerned. Treating a game against the to-be wooden spooners as a bit of a training run isn't all that big a deal. I'm most annoyed at the fact that we blew an opportunity to rack up a scoring record.

Walker was very good today...I’m surprised he keeps having his place in the side questioned. The guy’s a magnet for trouble off the field but he has contributed on it week in week out this year.
I think Walker and Lawton are a lock for two of the bench spots. Who takes the other two will be crucial. If Paseka is fit, one of them is his. Keppie probably nudges Sipley for the last one.

Well I went - I watched - I did not conquer - nor did Manly. They were terrible watching live and I doubt it was any better on TV. A one out of ten performance. Disorganised mistaken ridden mess. I played in a game against Norths in 1985 at Lang Park where Tony Durkin wanted to wrap the game up in a blanket and and throw it in the Brisbane River.... well I would like to wrap that game up in a blanket and throw it in Moreton Bay. The boys sadly already have an eye on the semis instead of the game in front of them. And to make matters worse - as a Redcliffe boy I booked seats on the Eastern side in the sun! You would think I would have been smarter than that. I actually thought I was being smart and booked the Western side knowing full well the sun issues. I obviously did not double check my seating. As I said a few days ago... the level of my idiocy - just changes from mediocre to exceptional... today exceptional foolishness booking the wrong side and to watch that! arghhhhh

I was most annoyed at our lack of discipline, our woeful error count, crappy completion rate, lack of go forward and our inability to finish attacking opportunities @eaglebuzz
Most of the game we were actually an embarrassing ****show. However, having said that, IF we can fix all of the above, we can still win the comp. It's a big if after today.

Just like Melbourne and Penrith our lads believed the hype and were not mentally prepared for some spirited opposition. I don't think you can take anything much from our performance except that the 16 other players should not expect Turbo to get them out of trouble every match.

I don't think we'll turn in a performance like that in the finals.

And.... the refereeing was pathetic - there was no 10 metres. I thought it was back to the early 80's and there had been another rule change from the Commission - the ref was flat out having them back 5 metres. Then to say Sean Keppie raked at the ball at the end of the game.... what a clown. Out of his depth whoever that fool was.
