We signed the Panthers second rower as well... looks to be a player of great potential.

Just to confirm. Albert hoppa was mentioned about being pronoted. Doesn't necessarily mean a spot in the top 30. He could be one of the 6 development squad players on a minimum 60k (outside the top 30) As a young kid id say its more likely

My take on our squad.
Taupau koroisau Afb
Thompson sironen
Jake

Chez Elgey
Kelly walker
Taufua Suli
Turbo

Tanga Paseka WADDELL Fainu

DEPTH PLAYERS.
Sipley SCHONIG AMONE Perrett
Gosiewski winterstein KEPPIE
ELLIOTT Parker
GARRETT Funa
Hodko Croker
DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS
Cust Schuster
Metcalfe olakatau
A.hoppa Trbojevic
There's more than enough there to at least be around 8th. A decent coach would be able to get them there. I just fear there won't be a decent coach.

How many retiring players from other clubs will still be on their books for a year after they've thrown out their boots (not to mention, played for another club)? Any?
Serious question. Are there examples?
i will never understand the Nate Myles situation.

Think in Myles "s case , with still 18 months or so to run on his contract in 2017 and after the Storm picking up his contract for the remainder of that season , the hope or wishful thinking was that someone else and including the Storm may enlist him in 2018 . Did not happen of course and Manly were then in the invidious position of either having him back in 2018 or just pay him for his remaining contract 2018 season with him having no part in their playing ranks . Just the beat worst option as things turned out unfortunately . .

i am sure that Matty Wright still had one more year to run on his contract for Manly into 2019 but was released . Not sure whether he has alternative playing opportunities next season or his contract adjustment arrangements however . Not the most dynamic of players of course but rarely have i seen such a versatile and mostly reliable and a Mr Fix It type player . Hope that he can find a worthwhile opportunity elsewhere , got a lot of time for the bloke .

Get a decent winger that can catch and run like the wind , another hard forward and she'll be right jack . Oh and a coach as well.
i like the look of Garrick , certainly has good natural attacking ability and speed , apparently good under the high ball , not sure how he may go in the important defensive duties however . Should be able to handle both wing and centre. Not sure of the present rating of Anderson , guy has really good speed and evasive ability , just did not seem to get many opportunities in the Black Town games that i watched him play in this season . Young Fanu has good ability , whether he is good enough to make the transition would be another matter of course . A lot depends on a fit and firing Siro to make a solid and strong return , just not sure how much confidence i can have in that very hopeful expectation though . Young Schuster and Olka look to have the goods as excellent back row forwards in the making and can only hope that they both come into contention as ist grade Manly prospects as soon as possible .

You wouldn't think it would be hard to find another Michael Robertson type wingman as well . Safe , pace , could catch and fill in at 1. My favourite player for Manly .

Robbo was a great asset to the club in what , his six seasons there and just so calm under pressure Pretty injury free from memory also which was also a big bonus . Just have to wait and see who can be the best wing options with the present guys on the books but don "t think that there are any other Robbo type players out there sill available . Hope that Suli can slim down a bit more , gain an extra yard or two , gets better drilled how to read a defence and can acquire a better never say die approach in his playing attitude

We just need a reliable no nonsense experienced prop for our rotation. I really hope we can find one somehow.

Darryn Schonig is a Prop, albiet only 22, but has big wraps on him:

Former Australian prop Greg Dowling said Schonig’s ability to hurt people with the ball was up there with retired prop Petero Civoniceva, while his talent and chiselled physique was akin to Shane Webcke.

“Those big men are hard to tackle. I always used to say about Petero Civoniceva, he hurt people when he ran the ball because he was big and solid. Darryn is like that as well,” he said.

“They’ll come in and try to put a hit on him and they’ll back-pedal.

“I like him because he’s tough. He always has been. I’ve followed Darryn since under-12s. He used to play with my son at Edmonton.”

Ive said before I believe Randall will be a great assistant for us. Very hands on type coach. But i believe our biggest recruit will be Ballin to get the boys in shape, in particular perrett paseka suli anf Taufua. We have more than enough talent to be a top 4 side. We just lack passion and fitness, we've addressed most of our weaknesses and should be much stronger in 2019.
Remember we went into 2018 with a **** coach, a **** fitness coach, 3 or 4 players in our squad not eligible for one reason or another,
We lost siro and tanga early, walker missed alot of the year and then played out of position. We had NO 5/8
Suli and hodko added late and had no pre season with us.
Taufua missed pre season due to injury.
We had young guys playing with NO experience.
By the time pre season kicks off we are already miles ahead of where we were last yr.

Guys, Taufua and Suli can't be our wingers full stop. They cannot score tries anymore. We'll get no long range efforts. They are power players, and have little to no pace. Their play-the-balls are akin to the Titanic turning around.

We need raw pace and agility on those flanks. Like absolutely every other good team. You'll note every strong team has blistering speed out wide.

If people think Suli is going to come.back in shape, they are in for a shock. Every second Instagram post is about him on the bong (the legal type btw), drinking, and partying with his homies. Truly not indicative of someone on their last chance, who came in well and truly overweight, and scored 0 tries for us (only 2 less than slow-mo Taufua).

That's our weakness now. Jorge and Moses should be relegated to depth, unless massive change is made in their physiques, running styles, and to be honest, commitment both on and off the park. Less drone like, and more explosive speed and tempo.

S.O.S Matt Ballin.

Ryan, Completely agree with your post. Last two seasons saw Manly with the least effective wingers in the club's history. It is a PRIORITY to recruit wingers - at least two - who have SPEED and who are try scorers..
Perhaps Anderson may be OK and I hope he gets the opportunity.

Both Taufua and Suli look destined for the forwards.
