Eels hope LeBron, Shakespeare and Matthew McConaughey can help end 34-year title drought

It boasts LeBron James’ playbook for mental fitness, Shakespeare audibles and voiceovers of Matthew McConaughey discussing the mysteries of the universe. And it just might be the key to Parramatta finally ending their 34-year title drought.
Taken from a page right out of Brad Fittler’s playbook, the Eels have turned to a meditation app in a bid to take a calmer approach to their premiership tilt in 2020.
Players have been instructed to use the app on a daily basis, including updates on their mental wellbeing in the hope of being more composed on the field.

Having been knocked out at the semi-final stage last year, the Eels are desperate to find new methods to improve their performance.

“We’re trying to better our game. There’s a lot of things we’ve been practicing, like all the extra meditation we’ve been doing,” veteran Michael Jennings said.

“I mean, we did meditation last year, but we’ve started on this app because we want to do everything possible to be better.”

Jennings, who won a premiership with Sydney Roosters in 2013, reckons it’s the kind of lateral thinking that could prove the difference in October.

“You gotta find that edge, and that’s what we’re doing. We’re trying to find an edge, because everyone can be physically ready,” he said.

“We just need to think outside the box and get our mindset in a good focus.”

The Eels are widely tipped to challenge for the crown in 2020, having added Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Ryan Matterson to last year’s squad.

They could have just edited that article down to " the Eels are desperate "

Can somebody help me out here .... we have just heard that Penriff and Doggies ... 2 of the rich clubs due to there Leagues club grants ... are the first to send all staff home becuase of the financial destruction of those same leagues clubs ....

And yet ... Parramatta, who over the past few seasons have lost up to 8 million a year .... and only proped up by there rich Leagues club .... we hear nada, zilch, nothing ... complete silence ????

Are they in major shiite or not .. ?? ....

Fair bit happening behind the scenes from all indications with all clubs trying to come to terms with the present upheaval and only less then two days since the league games suspension announcement . No doubt a given that they [ Eels ] like all the other clubs would be trimming their operating costs and until there is some more clear indication how the clubs and N R L adapt to the present situation , guess that there will continue to be very limited information from most of the clubs with their internal and suspension affected arrangements .. Looking for and seeking outside [ mainly head body ] assistance seems to be the initial objective for most clubs right now . Can 't imagine the Eels being any different .

Eels poised to become latest clubs to stand down football staff

"Meanwhile, there are fears Parramatta will be the next NRL club to stand down football club coaching staff as the club fights to stay afloat in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.

A meeting has just started where it is believed those with available holidays will be told to take them and others could be stood down without pay.

This is expected to include most staff on the football club’s payroll, from coach Brad Arthur down."

I thought as much .... without their pokie money they are very vunerable ...

Nothing dodgy about these guys, sheesh.

The company collapses follow a similar pattern: a special purpose vehicle is established for each construction project. Upon completion of a development, having paid Dyldam handsomely for construction services, several apartments are transferred to their family and friends and shortly after the company goes down the gurgler, owing the ATO money.

"They just don't have it in their DNA to pay tax," prominent liquidator Stephen Hathway has previously said of the tens of millions of dollars Dyldam-related entities owe to the ATO.

Yep, absolute knock me down with a feather, couldn't see that coming, blindside surprise. Let's see if anything comes of it and how far up the political chain the money trail goes. I'm betting nothing will happen.

Why aren’t parra mentioned in the headline? E.g. Eels link in crooked, tax evading, corrupt bombers.

like manly were for the “sponsor” that gave a few phones to players about 2014.

Of even greater interest would be to obtain all the sales fiqures of apartments over the past 10 years and see how many times Parra players and officials names come up ... and at what prices .....

I think when you see who wrote the article it explains a lot. Isn't she the one who has been death riding Manly for years? Match fixing etc.

From personal experience, I can confirm that said company always pay contractors for works completed on their sites, and have never, ever, ever done the dodgy on small family businesses supplying installation services.

Doesn'tmatta's sponsor Aland, proudly featured on the front of their jerseys, received some heavy criticism on 60 Minutes tonight for allegedly causing the Mascot Towers to crack, sink and be evacuated due to Alan'd excavation of the site next door.
