Think about this, the players (including Choc) have already been paid maybe a third of the year's salary. So to get under the cap they will need to shed a fair bit more than $570k worth of salaries. So it's not just Choc (even if they could somehow do this legally) but also a few smaller players from the 25. THEN they would need to replace them with really cheap players, possibly putting pressure on their second tier salary cap.

They'd actually probably be better off getting rid of a couple of players on big money, rather than a whole bunch on less coin.

Minimum wage is $85K and they must have 25 players in the squad. So, dump a guy on $100K, replace him with a guy on minimum wage - you've only cleared $15K from your cap. It's going to take a lot of those to reach $570 000...

Foran will return to Manly effective immediately. This will leave Parra under the cap for the rest of this season.

Manly will not be liable for any TPA's and will pay minimal for this year as Foran is not expected to play for most of the season. The contact will be back ended for next season onward with cash being freed up from players who are off contract.

Jen this is the strongest example of how much power the media have. Channel Nein said to Greenturd jump and he said how high. The broadcasters should be ashamed of themselves. It's all about revenue from ratings. The Storm must be absolutely livered at the bias displayed by the NRL. They had 2 premierships taken off them for heavens sake and played the season for knix. The politics in this saga are disgraceful and all should be ashamed to be a part of it.

So if we say finish level with them on 28 points for example and we miss out on the finals due to for and against, would you be happy missing out to a team that was for part of the season deemed illegal? This is a potential minefield for the NRL.

Retaining the for and against is the total joke part of this penalty. It's their life support so they can potentially win this season after cheating for the first nine weeks. How can the NRL not rationalise this?
I sort of wish I liked soccer or AFL - but I find them boring.

From what I can gather, this is actually a bigger case of rorting than either the Dogs or Scum: both teams were not *effectively* rubbed out for the season when caught out......they were totally rubbed out, and with good reason.

Why are the squeels not playing for nothing?

4 seasons of systematic cheating, players getting paper bags, dodgy board members who STILL won't accept any blame.... Yet they're still a mathematical chance this year, and will probably be pretty strong next year.

Both Storm and Dogs fans should be blowing up DELUXE, as these guys have got a slap on the wrist when they should have been in the exact same place that their clubs were, when caught for similar offences.
