The Chain of events:

Eels caught red-handed over the cap last five years. Should lose all points, shed players and play for zero points this year.

Media leaks(Pressure from a TV network). Should they lose 6 or 8 or 10 points. This goes on for weeks with lots of "Poor ole parramatta" stories.

Couple of days ago 12 points taken away and 1mil with 5 directors to sack while still 570k over the cap.

5 directors seek injunction and win, the NRL say no points until they are gone. NRL back flips and tell them that they can play for points but must be under the cap before Souths cap. They also keep their for and against.

Schubert there to look at the situation. They get watmouth to retire and most of the 570k is waived. Next Schubert gets out his dodgy calculator and suddenly they are 150k under the cap.

Other than losing 12 points and fined 1mil the NRL surrender meekly.

Maybe its time for a petition to have Greenberg removed from his position through lack of confidence in his administering of serious issues within the game. If enough supporters and CEOs supported the move he'd quickly do a turnaround.

The way I read their report today they have lost 12 points and got a million dollar fine no matter what but if they don't get under the salary cap they won't get any points. The final decision is in 6 weeks time after Parramatta reply and they have a chance to check it. So in the next 6 weeks if they win but are not under the salary cap they will lose those points too. What a mess this years competition is going to be.

If the Eels had just accepted they were over the cap and Sharp and Co accepted their fate and resigned there would be no problems.

The NRL stated in their initial press release they would do everything possible to help the Eels be salary cap compliant by next Friday.

Now that Sharp and Co are fighting the NRL on every level its more likely that the NRL won't be as lenient around issues like Watmough's retirement which will make it even more difficult for the Eels to be under the cap this year.

If I were fans like Chief I would be begging Sharp and his mates to move on.
