Other assessments....Garrick a good reserve grader, funa not yet up to it and Joel Thompson looking for England.

Any footballer will tell you, when you drag yourself up off the deck to get to a lead with 7 minutes to go, cart the ball courageously the length of the field. Then your halfback mindlessly kicks the ball away instead of giving you a chance to catch your breath and reset your defensive line, it’s no wonder they threw the towel in.
As bad as we played, the game was there to be won by a 1st grade playmaker. He didn’t, again

Injuries again to important players, referee decisions in favour of the Knights hence the lopsided penalty count, sill mistakes I agree, playing a full strength Knights in Newcastle & we lose by 2 points? Again WTF people expect is beyond me! With AFB & Marty we would have carved them up!

Not at full strength they have Watson and Andrew m on the sidelines

I think the knocks on and dumb penalties, as well as the terrible outside defence was to blame than one kick. Some of those simple knock one and giving away dumb 4th tackle penalties lead to Newcastle points. Even that last try, Funa just had to tackle Pearce, but missed him twice while Suli just watched.

Yes, all those things played their part in the loss. However, DCE is our supposed leader. He is the one charged to lead and inspire his team. He just watched his string of second graders put in a super gutsy defensive effort to hold out the Knights and hold onto the lead. We finally get the ball and down in attacking territory... so how does the leader respond? How should a leader respond? Those are the key super critical moments in sports that separates the greats from the pretenders. It is those small 1%ers that you expect your leader and star player to nail more often than not. How deflating do you think it is for these fringe first graders to come into a game like that, put in the effort that they did only to see DCE produce that garbage. It's deflating and damaging to their already frail confidence. How does Funa find and grow in confidence when his own superstar skipper has no control or composure. This is why people rip into DCE, and rightfully so.

On top of our injuries we were more disrupted with our fullback gone , players playing with strappings and injuries a 10 -3 penalty count against us and we were always into the game and just losing it by only 2 points . I want to win as much as you today but we may have not won on the score board but our unlucky resilient troops out there won my heart.
To say we were disfunctional after that effort is way out of order feathered friend

We played terrible, mistake ridden footy. But there was plenty of courage. Some of our guys could barely walk let alone run.
For DCE to throw it away like that at the end...it must really gut those guys.

Disagree with your comments on Siro, he needs an off season focussing on his running style. He's still clearly tentative on that knee after all the injuries.
