Yes, all those things played their part in the loss. However, DCE is our supposed leader. He is the one charged to lead and inspire his team. He just watched his string of second graders put in a super gutsy defensive effort to hold out the Knights and hold onto the lead. We finally get the ball and down in attacking territory... so how does the leader respond? How should a leader respond? Those are the key super critical moments in sports that separates the greats from the pretenders. It is those small 1%ers that you expect your leader and star player to nail more often than not. How deflating do you think it is for these fringe first graders to come into a game like that, put in the effort that they did only to see DCE produce that garbage. It's deflating and damaging to their already frail confidence. How does Funa find and grow in confidence when his own superstar skipper has no control or composure. This is why people rip into DCE, and rightfully so.
DCE hasn’t developed into the game manager his status requires. He either didn’t learn or refused to take note in his earlier years when there was a plethora of experienced players around him.He still has the habits he got into under Barrett

THERE IS NO EXCUSES!!! STOP BLAMING INJURYS!!!

injuries DONT kick out on the full twice and short when there was no need to

Injuries don’t give away 7 tackle sets with **** last tackle options

injuries don’t make stupid errors over and over again

we are the dumbest stupidest laziest team in the comp
Agree with @strone33 people on here want mediocrity I can’t stomach it.

what? Not defending DCE?

We win that game twice and lost it twice. Just too many Average players, in An ideal world, I’d keep maybe 6 of that lot who played today

the fact we didn’t ice that game is on the captain- sorry no defending him this week
The DCE kick was definitely a shocker at the end... he needed to put the ball across the touch line and reset the defence. But he also did many other really good things. That’s just sport mate... So, no I won’t be bagging the crap out of him. Shame he didn’t finish the set off better though.

Turning point was elliott injury and Garrick being put to fullback (letting in two soft tries)

Other turning point was Cust injury and not persisting with Jake @ prop. He needed to be benched so our forwards could be fresh and same as our attacking movements
Elliot was actually playing half decent today as well. 12 nil up, playing well footy gods decide to give us yet another injury!

Yep, bad kick but some of the outside defence looked horrible today, I thought Newcastle might score every time.
Suli, Garrick and Funa even Parker running in was a real concern. Then add the simple dropped balls, dumb penalties, kick offs out on full twice. Pretty ordinary

Exactly, it’s the lack of leadership in those moments that will forever define DCE. Sure, he has kicked some wonderful field goals to win many games. BUT, he had the worst last tackle plays in the game bar none! Some utterly mindless stuff.
Will be his legacy

Ok emotion aside we again screw that over.

we should of not lost from 12-0 up.

again injury and letting knights score right in at half time pathetic

wow this club I love is one hell of a poor position.

pathetic and ashamed this afternoon to support this club.

cleanout needed

Disappointed absolutely, but I can’t be ashamed of that effort under the circumstances.

Feel free to sulk away.... I understand your cranky. But I politely disagree with your assessment.

When you have so many injuries, it completely changes the context of the game and it means you don’t have the class there to turn things around.
All the pressure gets lumped on a few and pressure can do terrible things for anyone’s game.

Fainu, Taupau, AFB, Walker, Turbo is a pretty decent list of players who could have helped change that game.

Take Ponga, Pearce, Saifiti, Klemmer and McCullough out of the knights side and play us (near) full strength and I’d guarantee the result would be different.

Injuries matter. They always do. But feel free to be cranky...

I will be cranky thank you very much but yes injuries have killed us this season but we are still playing some dumb footy this year.

It’s difficult when we have Elliot go down in the first 20 minutes and then shift Parker across to Funa’s wing, Gossi to centre, Funa to Garrick’s wing, and Garrick to FB. It destroys the defensive structure and creates uncertainty, but what can you do? It’s been happening to us all year.

We’ve been losing backs in the first period all season.

Injured or out:

01. Tom Trbojevic
02. Jorge Taufua
06. Dylan Walker
08. Addin Fonua-Blake
09. Manase Fainu
10. Marty Taupau

14. Brendan Elliott

* Cade Cust played injured

Not a bad effort against The Knights (full strength) at their home ground. Shows me that when at full strength, we'll have depth and quality and be a real threat.

I am going to ask you to think more rational about our 2 point loss under the circumstances . That is what I am going to do feathered freind
Yes @BOZO you are right and I humbly apologise for the way I acted but just so frustrated we have slipped so low in our standards of this once proud club, at the moment this is not the manly club I have grown up supporting.

It’s gonna take a good couple of years but with more game time our youngsters will improve, as long as they are not shifted on and off the field too regular. It just goes to show how hard it is to rebuild a club and how long it takes without our silvertail check book.It will happen when it happens. We need to put more faith in the ones tacking the field than the ones that have been sitting on the sidelines all year that have done nothing but cost our club.Tubo excluded of course. Our club has become a charity organisation to so Called big name players and it reeks of sh.... If you can’t take the field then on ya bike. Then just maybe some players might even learn how to tackle and get tackled without hurting themselves.Thats what needs to change. Its not our effort in question at all, it’s our brains.

Knights are not at full strength. I get your point though.

Taufua is rubbish, Fainu may never be the player we hope through injury and his off field exploits,Elliott thankfully is gone next season on others I agree.

Some shockers today. Suli worst game I have seen him play cold drops and lazy reads in defence
Yeah I'll throw my hand in the air and claim that one as my fault.

As soon as I posted earlier today that I suspected a Suli blinder today he had no chance
