Sportal's "the Lurker" reporting this morning on Twitter that Taupau is expected to complete his contract for 2016 with the Tigers but has agreed to terms with the Sea Eagles for 2017-2019.

I said a week ago the longer this went the less chance of him being at Brooky next year.

So dose that mean we have 700-800k under the cap for next year if he doesn't come?

I think that's because the Tigers want a player in return, but the clubs havn't been able to come to an agreement. I thought Ballin was a certainty to be at the Tigers next year after JT said Farah would play reserve grade, maybe they want Ballin and another forward?

Phil Rothfield tweeted this when asked about Taupau last night.

@BuzzRothfield: Done deal @SeaEagles 2017 onwards. Will try to get release to go next year after UK tour.

Unless there's an inducement from Manly ( player swap or something ) I can't see this happening, especially so late in the trading season when the Tigers have little left in the market to replace him with.

I doubt he'll be here next year now.

When Taupou gets back & shows desperation to get out of the Tigers (maybe suggesting he wont play for them) - this will be the real test.
There will be no player trade here unless Ballin has a change of heart, which is extra unlikely with Farah staying put.

Swap burgess for Taupau. Lets face it burgess wont get any first grade field time unless major injury strikes us and Taupau doesn't want to be at the Tigers when he's already signed for us in 2017 *apparently* Taylor would be an idiot to keep a player who doesn't want to be at the club!
