Surprising the number of current N R L clubs who do not have a development or even specialist type 5 / 8 as their regular six in recent times . The majority of clubs have converted full backs or even utility type players to play in the six role and again as an even more pronounced current trend .. Elgey has had more of a traditional back ground developing or emerging as a half , has he full filled his previous potential rating , well not really overall . Does have a bit of sharpness in his game , passing selection seems O K , good support player but his defensive issues still seem to be a bit of a concern . Actually seems to have been a bit more effective in the half back role [ and that will not be happening at Manly next season ] ; ] . players like Luke Keary have shown that even lighter weight type and capable 6 "s can be quite influential but he is a very determined individual and has also had the benefit of playing behind some pretty useful forward packs in recent years . Manly management have put some faith that Elgey will be able to produce something worth while , personally think that young Metcalfe potentially has the most to offer in due course if he can show a bit more improvement . Can 't see Cust or Hodko coming into any real serious calculation for the Manly 6 next season, Metcalfe a good prospect if he stays around or if Elgey can not cut it as a 6 in the short term . just revert back to Walker .
