I "ll keep an open mind on Kane . Certainly an upgrade on Croker [ good kid though he is ] . Notice that Metcaffe seemed to be doing better in Jersey Flegg as this season progressed and does have unquestioned ability . Not the most preferred option on this site but there is still always Walker for the six role if the situation warrants it .

We've got Elgey for 2 years. This gives Metcalfe time to develop, so that if Elgey doesn't come up to scratch over two years. Metcalfe would be just about ready.

In the games I've watched of him, he is a good organiser and involves himself heavily. I like him but I wonder why they bought Metcalfe, unless they see those two as our future 5/8 and half...hmmmm
