"At the conclusion of the 2009 Toyota Cup season, Cherry-Evans found himself behind Trent Hodkinson as Manly's first grade halfback after the departure of club captain Matt Orford. As a result, Cherry-Evans was sent to play for Manly's Queensland Cup feeder club the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles. After captaining the team for most of the season, Cherry-Evans was named the Queensland Cup Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. His performances in the side saw him selected to the Queensland Residents team where he was also named team captain"I watched a lot of sunshine coast games and dce didnt shine until he got to first grade. I mean he was QLD cup player of the year and QLD cup rookie of the year that year.I watched a lot of sunshine coast games and dce didnt shine until he got to first grade. Had a unit up there for a bit
Your correct you can only go off what we see but until given a go its tough.
We have had him long enough, nurtured him enough for it to be a confusing decision on footy alone
But our top 30 spots are limited for next season and maybe thats behind it.
Frogs injury or ability to be a utility could also factor
Yes, you are right. The games I went to, I thought DCE looked bog average in the Q Cup and couldn't understand any of the hype. I thought the five eight looked head and shoulders above DCE and yet he didn't even get to be a regular first grader. Who knows which players are going to step up!I watched a lot of sunshine coast games and dce didnt shine until he got to first grade. Had a unit up there for a bit

Yep, people waxed lyrical about Schu's debut and....One thing is for certain, however he plays, come Sunday night, people extrapolate his whole career off this one game 😂😂
When the reality is, his debut in itself wont determine whether he has a meaningful first grade career.
Wasn’t the 5/8 Tony T-Rex Williams for large chunks of that season?Yes, you are right. The games I went to, I thought DCE looked bog average in the Q Cup and couldn't understand any of the hype. I recollect that he only played one game and that was 5/8 in the GFWasn’t the 5/8 Tony T-Rex Williams for large chunks of that season?
I think it's mainly that we have nothing else. Zero depth in halves.I don't get the hysteria re. Humphries? It's not like he has played 5-10 NRL games and we have seen what he can do and/or what we will be missing. I know it's hard-to-get game time when DCE is there and never injured. Maybe, just maybe, those that are with him 7 days a week on the training paddock is seeing deficiencies or have concerns he has what it takes to be the heir apparent to our leader and captain at an NRL level. On this forum, there have been many blow-ups about 'awesome' juniors in the past who have been let go and they haven't kicked on elsewhere.
Terrence seuseu , a x cronulla hooker played a bit of 6 also and looked way more dangerous.Yes, you are right. I'd argue Arthur is a pretty solid backup.I think it's mainly that we have nothing else. Zero depth in halves.
Totally agree...He should have been our half hooker for next 10yrs...There was need to buy SimpkinSeibold deserves to be sacked for letting this guy slip through

I was 100% sure Jamie would make his debut against Souths, and was really looking forward to it. Instead, we threw that game away.He played well enough to prove that we should have picked him against Souths but he was solid. Brooks and Turbo did most of the playmaking today.
