Your correct you can only go off what we see but until given a go its tough.

We have had him long enough, nurtured him enough for it to be a confusing decision on footy alone

But our top 30 spots are limited for next season and maybe thats behind it.
Frogs injury or ability to be a utility could also factor

I mean he was QLD cup player of the year and QLD cup rookie of the year that year.

He was also in the Toyota cup team of the year the season before.

Humphreys has yet to truly lock down a permanent position in NSW cup.

No a great comparison IMO

Yes, you are right. The games I went to, I thought DCE looked bog average in the Q Cup and couldn't understand any of the hype. I thought the five eight looked head and shoulders above DCE and yet he didn't even get to be a regular first grader. Who knows which players are going to step up!

One thing is for certain, however he plays, come Sunday night, people extrapolate his whole career off this one game 😂😂

When the reality is, his debut in itself wont determine whether he has a meaningful first grade career.

I don't get the hysteria re. Humphries? It's not like he has played 5-10 NRL games and we have seen what he can do and/or what we will be missing. I know it's hard-to-get game time when DCE is there and never injured. Maybe, just maybe, those that are with him 7 days a week on the training paddock is seeing deficiencies or have concerns he has what it takes to be the heir apparent to our leader and captain at an NRL level. On this forum, there have been many blow-ups about 'awesome' juniors in the past who have been let go and they haven't kicked on elsewhere.

I think it's mainly that we have nothing else. Zero depth in halves.

Terrence seuseu , a x cronulla hooker played a bit of 6 also and looked way more dangerous.

I'd argue Arthur is a pretty solid backup.

Such bad timing for an injury.

To be fair though nothing on say a Warriors who can have Johnson and Metcalf out and still run with Te Maire and CHT

My thoughts are that some people think if dce isnt playing than manly run out with only 12 players. Il support dce while he is here, but Jamie would have been a nice succession plan.

He played well enough to prove that we should have picked him against Souths but he was solid. Brooks and Turbo did most of the playmaking today.

Childhood eagles supporter here and long time watcher of this site. I know it's early to say but by the looks of what was displayed by Humphries today we have lost a really good potential half back. The main reason I say this is because of how he passes the ball like a regular half back which is easily noticeable in the style and how holds his body when he does it. I even say better then chez does.he seems to be a great kicker/ defender and does not hold the ball himself to much and knows when to pass. He just has all the attributes of what a good footballer is and I can see why Wayne snapped him up. Manly were to slow to see what is obvious. He was just waiting for first grade to really excell which is what I bet Wayne saw and could see his strengths.

Did 100% exactly what he should have today. Feed the backs beautifully, good kicking game. A few minor mistakes. Solid solid debut.
Pity we won’t see him again. Probably sign DCE for another 7yr contract

I was 100% sure Jamie would make his debut against Souths, and was really looking forward to it. Instead, we threw that game away.

He's a good player, great kicking game, and he's been that way all through his junior career. Not a flashy half, but very orthodox, makes good decisions, and will be a reliable NRL player. His defence was excellent today, too, so it looks like shifting him into hooker has had the desired effect. He was very comfortable whenever he went into dummy half.

I would have loved to have seen him stay at the club, but understand why the club might have had other priorities in mind, and completely understand why he would look for an opportunity elsewhere.

Anyway, great to see him make his debut for us, score a try, kick them from both sidelines, etc, etc. Really happy for him and only wish him well in the future.
