Childhood eagles supporter here and long time watcher of this site. I know it's early to say but by the looks of what was displayed by Humphries today we have lost a really good potential half back. The main reason I say this is because of how he passes the ball like a regular half back which is easily noticeable in the style and how holds his body when he does it. I even say better then chez does.he seems to be a great kicker/ defender and does not hold the ball himself to much and knows when to pass. He just has all the attributes of what a good footballer is and I can see why Wayne snapped him up. Manly were to slow to see what is obvious. He was just waiting for first grade to really excell which is what I bet Wayne saw and could see his strengths.

Good solid first post @reconeagle , unfortunately a few on this site feel DCE is the messiah and should play till he is 49.

@Disco , bearing in mind it's his absolute first ever first grade game, but your thoughts now ?

Great first game, managed well in defense and did what was asked.

Nothing in that that has necessarily change my long term view. Didnt blitz them.

Doesn’t need to be spectacular when it’s the players outside him that does that and it’ll be the same next season at Souths if he gets a run in first grade

Ran fairly deep into the line and straightened the attack on a number of occasions. Not spectacular but nice to watch, a little Foz like, creating space for his outside men. Tenacious defence and faultless goal kicking so an excellent debtut all round. Well done.

He had a good debut.
In honesty Brooks,Brown and Turbo managed the side today against a very very poor Knights backline.
I have said in the past he is more an instinctive player and not a game manager,he did well playing on the right instead of his preferred left.
Defended and covered well,passed it on when needed,solid long kicking game.
Not the Messiah,but a good debut.
Brain snap running the ball on the last at halfway,fell off a couple of tackles,but he did what he needed and yeah,should have played against bunnies based on today.
Didn't really run the ball much apart from once or show any tactical kicking,but I guess that is what you expect from a first gamer,to not try to do too much.
Not bagging him,just what I saw.
Plenty of promise.

Is he better than Lauchlan Illyas? They made a scapegoat of him earlier in the season when Cody and Latrell were even more rubbish than him.

I can see the appeal of playing under Bennett, but geez being a number 7 in that Souffs system carries pressure.

I'd argue Arthur is a pretty solid backup.

Such bad timing for an injury.

To be fair though nothing on say a Warriors who can have Johnson and Metcalf out and still run with Te Maire and CHT

I personally think humphreys is better than Arthur. But that's just me

Very calm and level headed. I think he will have a good NRL career moving forward. He just needs some more opportunities. Shame we chose not to keep him.

Pretty obvious from today's excellent performance from Humphreys that Seibold screwed up by not selecting him against Souths.

Potentially he has screwed up by letting him go to Souths. He has so much more upside than Arthur's, that is for sure.

Yep pretty clear Seibold can't coach young talent, Humphreys Lehi and Caleb were poor again, Falualo was terrible.
Or... actually they were all pretty good 🙂
