Jamal Fogarty

I see a lot of potential upside of this whole situation…

Here’s some R3 thoughts:

Daly had many halves partners throughout his Manly Career (not a eulogy)
During this stretch we’ve noticed many coaches, team mates and panel experts describe DCE as an impulsive, ‘eyes-up’ instinctual halfback.

Jamal has a similar toughness and stable general play which is more similar to the now thriving Jaime Humphreys at South’s.
This ‘Blake green- distributor’ halfback style might compliment Brooks’ running game and allow Turbo, Lehi, Ola and even Burbo to form a decent habit of support play both sides of Fogarty.

The chances of Onitoni Large and Joey Walsh to learn from a more structured general for a couples of years might help balance the instinctive playmaker style that DCE has delivered for so long.

Jamal would miss the odd game and give both Large and Walsh various opportunities over the next 2 years to taste some FG experiences with Fogarty, and at times on his behalf.

Since he’s already behind Ethan Sanders next year at urge raiders, he’s more likely comfortable with the chance that his second season with Manly may be more of a mentor role of Walsh or Large take his spot like Sanders would back in Canberra.

He could be the perfect stop gap, mentor, director and I’m personally curious to see how Manly’s speedy backline could fire with a really structured 7.
We didn’t look too bad against the bunnies last year, plus Brooks is always going to be the bridesmaid. We don’t like him running the show and neither does he..

One big positive with Jamal is he is a good human. Quiet respectful bloke and a total professional in every regard with respect to fitness and preparation, as DCE was.
He was at the Burleigh Bears when i was with the club and he totally changed the club dynamic when he arrived. He was perfect in our 2019 flogging of the dolphins in the GF, including a 90 metre solo try. He has deceptive spreed.

Despite his quiet demeanour off the field he is a huge talker on the field, something we have lacked in tight situations / big games for a long time.

As a one , maximum two year option we could do a lot worse although i would have no problem at all if we risked Tom or a rookie if they thought he may be ready.

The one option i couldn't be on board with is Arthur. He is simply not a first grader .

I would take Fogarty in a heartbeat , Good player, kicks goals , solid defence and decent kicking game. Hopefully would be under $1M as well

Great post. I can't help thinking he could be a great fit for Manly. There's much to like about Fogarty. I like his kicking game, passing and calm demeanour. Also his defence is top class.

He can’t be that quick. He got run down by Josh Papalii.
