Sounds crazy but DCE could do worse than watch the unheralded 7 from the Titans.
Does everything the modern game requires- plays fast at the advantage line off the quick play the balls, smooth passing game both sides without looking flustered and great long and short kicking game. Seems to usually take the right options.

Doesn’t have half the natural ability of DCE but keeps his head and gets the very most from his ability. DCE would be well served to spend a couple of weeks concentrating on the basics like Jamal provides to get his confidence back, These headless chook displays make it impossible for us to go anywhere.
When the captain looks clueless it’s no wonder the rest of them lose their heads.

Need DCE to lift with Tom’s return or we are genuinely finished this year.and the spoon looms.

The Titans pack is seriously dominant and they have an experienced 9 with a good pass... we have neither of those things helping DCE at the moment

Not sure if DCE thinks the world is on his shoulders, but sure looks that way.
He kind of tries to build a house without building the foundations first and it continually crumbles around him.
To see him simplify his game and not have to make the "big play" almost every time he touches it will allow him to have more control.
Another thing is DCE at his best, like most players, needs to enjoy the game....atm looks like that kid mum and dad have pushed onto the field who really doesn't want to be there...

That "s what is so frustrating with D C E play sometimes and especially this season , guys like Fogarty and the converted full back Hughes at the Storm and other less notable halfs just seem to be able to adapt well to a required half's playing role and yet D C E after what, with some 10 seasons of N R L and representative footy is having real issues with now . Admittedly , like the Eel"s Moses , more of an open field preferred player but still has to provide the necessary game management to get his side going forward . Maybe needs some more specialist half 's coaching like he received many season"s ago , or just to find his Mojo again by looking at how other less recognized and much lower paid halfs are presently doing it well .

Sure he has plodders around him but does that mean the Australian halfback should look like a headless chook.His kicking game for instance can’t be pinned on other plodders.

A player of his standing shoukd at least keep cool and do the basics right. That might earn a win against a bulldogs or cowboys team which could mean no spoon. Because anyone who thinks that not getting the spoon isnt our major task here ain’t watching.

Yep. I like the way The Fog plays. He's very busy.
I also appreciate the way the unheralded Clune from Illawarra plays when he's given a chance.

And yes Fogarty is good - very solid half. Not many organising halves coming through the ranks anymore so Titans did pretty well there given theres good chance Staggs will be their 6 next year - perfect foils to each other.

I made reference to fogarty last year when he spanked dce in our game. Great player.
He is a footy player as opposed to an athlete. Just always in the game, wants the ball, wants to be in charge of the teams destiny.,

I think it’s clear as day that Foz needs to take over the organization of the side and Dce play second fiddle for a while until his confidence returns - and it will. Foz will be injured soon anyway and dce will step back in to running the show. Use this time to take the pressure off dce and until Tom returns. Foz should be our fifth tackle option every time in the red zone. Dce doing the long kicking.

But of an aside here, but was it just me or did the dragons seem to be offside a lot or a very skinny ten being kept. Either that or they were supremely fit getting off their line. I hadn’t noticed it as much in the first two games but this for mine is a byproduct of the one ref perhaps. Perhaps it’s just me looking for excuses but a few times on Friday I was yelling at the fb to get them back or more like “bloody get em back!!!!!!!!”

What would you do in that situation if you were playing half? Personally I'd try standing closer to the play the ball and a couple of metres back to give myself more time. I'd have a second rower running an outside in line ready for a face ball and I'd have a center and winger out beyond the second rower running straight so I could throw a cut out pass if I saw the opposition sliding in. About once in every three sets (if I was getting pressured) I'd put through a little kick for the outside backs to chase or go for a 40/20 - just to make the opposition think twice about rushing up. If the opposition stop rushing me I'd try running the ball before I passed.

Now now SER8...context please. We don't have a Fogarty lying around to bring in. Plus all those wanting the youth (myself included) were also cheering Davey. It isn't youth for youth's sake. Cheeky bugger.

When he misses important tackles yes... its the lack of try scoring opportunities that is the most worrying! We are slow and predictable with no spark out of dummy half and no fb to help out Foz and Chez. We need an actual fullback and i hear we have a young kid who is just that
