Jamal Fogarty

Turbo to 5/8, Brooks to 7.
1. Hoppa, 2. Saab, 3. Koula, 4. Garrick/Talau, 5. Garrick/Talau. 6. Turbo, 7. Brooks

The money saved should go towards re-signing Bullemor, signing YOUNG forwards like Josiah Pahulu and Daniel Suluka-Fifita and maybe Lazarus Vaalepu if we could offload the ageing guys; Taukeiaho, Aloiai, Waddell and the JazzT.

8. Jurbo, 9. Simpkins, 10. Bullemor, 11. Olakau'atu, 12. Navale, 13. Brown, 14. Croker, 15. Pahulu, 16. Suluka-Fifita, 17. Paseka

A former old Burleigh Bears Boy. Bring it on.
A level headed leader.
A bloke that knew his weaknesses in his game and has a work ethic
to overcome them. He’s patient, is all heart, and he prefers to do his
talking on the field. He will be a calming influence on the rest of the team.
And I think will be an excellent mentor for our young blokes.
And his legs tell you he never misses leg days in the gym. Even back in his Burleigh
playing days.( oh the pain of leg days, even worse the next day!😱).

What do we do when turbo is injured for half the season?

meh, not saying Arthurs is great just the difference between him and Fogarty is not that big, if it's a 1-2 year fill in better to keep Jake and spend the cap on the forwards and if Large and Joey are ready move them in. Fogarty is average, Arthurs is average, no need to spend more for average imo.
Assuming that Arthurs is Jake Arthur?

Well, he is a NSW cup level half back who does things at a glacial pace - while Fogarty is a good NRL half.

Quite a big difference, I would have thought.

I actually think Fogarty is pretty much the perfect pickup for us.

I mean....okay, perfect would have been DCE staying on for two years on a reducedcrate eithout all this hullabaloo but that ship has sailed.

So what we have is two young halves that we have a lot of faith in who are likely 2027-28 options.

So you are not going out and sign a Moses/Hughes/Katoa etc.

But you dont want to drop off to an Arthur or some other fringie.

So you get the experienced, steady Fogarty. Who I think is being underrated by many on here. Good player, not DCE good but good player.

He'll keep us in the hunt and allow us to invest in a forward till our rookie halves are ready.

Anyone saying we would be better off rolling with Arthur or Wakeham, or moving Tom to the halves instead has rocks in their head.

Really hoping we do end up with him, always thought we would be a better side with a steady, game managing halfback just like Fogarty so might finally get the chance to see if that is true. Even better if it’s only the 500-600k per season as reported, once we get the Trbojevic contracts cut down a bit we might finally have some money to be a threat on the open market. It’s been nearly 10 years!

If we get him at 500 to 600 a season for 2 seasons he is a sensible signing. Steady half that guides his side around the field with a very good kicking game. Great 2 year solution whilst Walsh and Large keep developing. But please Manly start signing and picking younger more mobile forwards. Dad's army got trampled last weekend.

Agree with everything except allowing us to invest in a forward. It sounds like money is not much less than what we had left over for DCE.

*not much less than what we were prepared to offer DCE.

Which is what I think his appearance on 100% Footy sans Manly gear, without advising the club he was going to is all about.

Looks more likely now bringing in Fogarty , Overlooked there was still another Raiders halves prospect out injured at present and apparently , Raiders not that keen on offering Fogarty more then a one year deal
Probably are going to need some of the saving on D C E "s contract to upgrade Bully , not sure about T T 2 "s contract arrangement but would seem handy to try and retain him as well and maybe even slightly more coin .
Think that there should be more of a priority to sign a well rated prop [ not too sure from where ] but guess that the same case could be made for another edge or 13 .
Looks like the club has some reasonable expectation that Navale may be able to do some good things as a future 13 .
Doesn 't seem to be much outside interest for Arthur in a halfs role but should be worth retaining on a modest contract as a utility value player .
Just the open question on how quickly Joey Walsh can develop into a N R L standard half or hopefully better .
Ideally of course the sooner the better

I think the best point you have made there is being able to spend money elsewhere. If the Trebojevics sign lower contracts we may have money to get that member of the forward pack we are missing. I am not at all concerned about the quality of our backs. There doesn't seem to be too many quality forwards off contract at the end of this year though.

You’re right, he is no DCE. And you know what, I actually think that will help. I’m not as bearish on how we’ll go with him as other are on here. Sure, he won’t reach the intermitent highs that DCE very occasionally reaches (a 40-20 here, a field goal there) but he won’t reach the lows either - and we all know what they are e.g. run around in circles then throw a pass to no one, 30m backwards like on the weekend. Maybe i’m being optimistic but i think this could be good for us. At the very least it’s something new and we’re moving on from DCE and not winning a comp for 14 years.

Fittler, Galvin, Cleary, Cam Smith etc, were all kids when they started. 17-18yrs if you're good enough you're old enough. Just throw them in the deep end at least 15-20mins at the end of a game when opponents are tired starting ASAP by next year they're ready to go first round. Get them on the bench replacing DADS ARMY then get rid of them and use the $$$cash to sign and keep our future youngsters before they're gone....
