Jamal Fogarty

Strange that the club when they recruited Arthur they haven’t put the effort in developing him into this backrow role that they purchased him for.

He goes to the line very well and can create opportunities, I would have liked the club to have given him an opportunity in the backrow to see how he goes there.

Agree, however that would require Seibold to actually coach and improve the player.

Fogarty is no star, but he is a calm head, and does his job. Has an awesome kicking game and is Defensively sound. For 500k a year I believe it's a bargain. In my opinion, after all the DCE years of inconsistency and touch footy mentality football. This is exactly what we need. A general that will get us to certain points of the field and let turbo and co work their magic, followed by good end of set kicks. Calm and collected. And as mentioned before, it allows us to spend elsewhere. A better acquisition than brooks in my opinion

You don’t think a player like Saab has improved? How bout Talau that was in reserve grade for the worst team in the comp?

Saab was an exceptional talent when young. He has already been interviewed to be training separately with Roger Fabri. His defence has improved.

Talau has always been a good player, but not fit - the UK trainer seemed to have got him very fit last season, not sure what has happened this season.
I can't see any stamp of Seibold in these players. That said, I am not quite sure what Seibolds strengths are as a coach.

I am interested to know what Seibold has done to ensure Lehi is absolutely ready to improve his game playing at fullback. A natural talent, but has not excelled at fullback since he has been there. I thought Kolua went better last year when Tommy was out.

Maybe hoppa just isn’t a fullback? Will be a star at centre/wing

Fogarty's kicking game is light years ahead of Jake. All the other stuff he does is punctuated by a kicking game that is right up near the top of the NRL. He is a very good signing if we can land him for a couple of years.
meh, not saying Arthurs is great just the difference between him and Fogarty is not that big, if it's a 1-2 year fill in better to keep Jake and spend the cap on the forwards and if Large and Joey are ready move them in. Fogarty is average, Arthurs is average, no need to spend more for average imo.

The coaches wouldn’t be just focusing on him at fullback while Turbo is still here, the main focus will be to stay consistent week in week out wherever he is on the field. Hoppa has just turned 20, he’s literally the youngest fullback in the comp this weekend & you expect him to excel? There isn’t really much that Seibold can do except give him time, he’s probably played 10 or less games at fullback in first grade.

Last week against the best team in the comp he had 162 run metres, 52 post contact, 3 line break assists, 1 try assist. The other game he started against raiders 153 run metres, 78 post contact metres, 1 line break assist & 1 try assist. Those are not bad numbers for a young guy against top 8 sides.

Sounds like it might be a done deal. What's the worst thing that can happen ? we don't win a grand final for a couple of years. Look on the bright side at least we aren't paying $1.2m a season for 8 years for the same outcome.

Fogarty is no Cleary, we all know that, but in terms of what is available on the market we could do worse. If we can use the spare coin to strengthen other areas then let's see what happens with these young halves in a couple of seasons.
