Luke's tackle was a crosd between the 2 and by contesting it he added another week to his suspension

Yawn. With all the ref decisions we've had to put up with suddenly Cluck Kent starts to get his super diapers in a knot because suddenly a Manly player gets a break. Cluck Kent should stick to saving who he considers the oppressed, the downtrodden, the victims of heinous allegations, like Greenberg and Beattie, the vulnerable ones.

I really think the club has played this the wrong way. Risk v Reward Jake needed to NOT be available to play this week.
How could the club have played it differently,? It’s not like we appealed the charge and got it downgraded, the charge didn’t incur enough points to miss a week?
I do agree, jake could do with a rest at some point, but they can now do that anytime, you don’t need a suspension to get a rest

Maybe the warriors game we have coming up. Waddell can play 13 and jetski can take his bench spot. He deserves a break. I have a feeling he won't get one though

That's not quite correct mate.
The charge carries 100 points, which is a 1 week suspension. Jake avoided that 1 week by an early guilty plea, which affords a 25% penalty reduction. Thus the 75 carry-over points now hanging over his head because of the early plea.
The maximum penalty for fighting a 100 point charge is still 1 week if you lose (just over 100 points is 2 weeks). If we chose to fight the charge and lost, Jake would have been suspended for 1 week and would not have those 75 points hanging over his head leading into the end of the season.
Of course Des and his entourage know all this and chose not to do it.

Buettner addressed several contentious issues around recent MRC rulings with NRL.com regarding dangerous throw charges, saying he had "no problem with their processes and performances this year".

It's amazing, look I know morons will be morons but almost everyone who has had anything to do with the process has come out and step by step explained the process and the difference between the tackles. If they can't see the difference between someone being picked up, turned upside down and driven into the ground by a repeat offender as opposed to a slightly above the vertical, no driving down and no head contact into the ground by a non repeat offender, then they are never going to.
So really it's just non Manly fans (a lot) doing the mob bleating, monkey typists following suit (to get clicks) meaning the powers at be feeling the need to say something. It makes me feel better they are so annoyed about it.
There's plenty of examples but there was no league outcry when Burgess lined up dce without the ball and nailed him. Got a letter of warning 'e did guv'nor. Yeah, that sorted his problems out.

In light of Cotric copping 3 matches, Jake should have realistically gotten one or two.
One week would have been reasonable given he's a clean skin but not missing a game with an early plea was extremely fortunate.
If this was another player at another club, we would have been after blood.
