To be honest I wish I’d said nothing now, all I was trying to do is give you some hope that things might be on the improve from a contact I have that should know.

He contacted me not vice versa.

I promised ( after he asked ) I wouldn’t say anything.

Simple as that , you like it , you like it, you don’t , well sorry but that’s all
I’m saying!!
Nope.
I'm glad you did. It's made it like waiting for Christmas...

I am glad you shared this with us Mark, it has been fun reading this thread, nearly as much fun as the Life of Brian thread.

My argument against Madge or any substantial coach coming to Manly ...

Madge would be asking about $700k upwards ...
Madge would likely demand the appointment of his own assistant coaches and staff.
Madge would demand a top recruitment manger and salary cap manager same as Baz ..

To facilitate Madge coming Penns would be looking at paying out Barrett for 3/4 of a year (say $400k), and possibly paying out Cartwright and Mangey for 2 years each (say $700k) .... plus employ 4 additional football club staff (say $500k) .....

or, keep Cartwright on a shoe string ... business as usual ...

PSS Mage has also seen how Penn's relationship with the past 3 coaches has ended in acrimony, legal stouches and media driven character assassinations ..ou can bet your sweet bibby that his contract would reflect the strong likihood that he will at some time receive the same treatment ...

A no win situation for old mate Brissy Mark.
Gets some good oil to add some excitement and lift the joint and then cops it for not throwing a name out.
Keep in mind things can change, as in if someone speaks directly to a Manly staff or player manager with 100% accurate
info, the situation can still change.
More importantly, if Mark has in trust been given solid info and blurts it out on Silvertails, could look pretty poor to the ppl
who gave him that info, so maybe best just trust its positive news and hang tough - at least feeling a bit more positive after
2017, where most could probably do with some hope for a better 2018.

Yep, as I posted in another thread - I'd say we are having serious discussions with two candidates - our plan A (Maguire, Cleary or Flannagan) and our plan B Cartwright - hence the conflicting info from different sources.

I totally respect that Mark can't give a name, and as a fan just like the rest of us, thought it would be encouraging to tell us something positive is brewing.
