I love the comments from coaches about he lack of facilities.

Manly made 10 years of finals, 4 grand finals and 2 victories without 'facilities'.

The most successful, hasler, had the world at the dogs and they had 2 grand final losses and then went downhill.

A Good coach with a good playing group backed by solid mentors who got the club's siege mentality and culture is what brought success. Not fancy training machines.

Can we go hire a Manly coach please. Whats kitey doing. I hear he is having some success in regional grades.

Cartwright is very experienced

At getting on the grog with his players
At laughing at his own boss when getting flogged
At missing out on getting to Interview stages at clubs
At moving from club, to club, to club as an assistant or head coach
At winning 0 G.F's
At - well - I'll just say check what the culture was called in The Gold Coast when he was there !
At running a club to the point the NRL needed to bail them out.
At bringing guys like Myles, Ferris and others to our club (admittedly, Kelly is wonderful, and hoping Elgey will be too)

etc etc etc

Games changed mate. Players want facilities now (leading to acquisition strength). Culture is different (we can't win on reputation). Hasler/Toovey had guys like Arthur, Siebold, Cleal and many, many others Barrett didn't have at his disposal. Chalk and cheese mate - chalk and cheese.

As one other poster has previously suggested , would be a quite appalling situation and very poor form if Trent or his manager were able to jag or received an offer from another N R L or overseas club during last season and is just hanging out for a payout from Manly to double dip . Doubt this is the case though , something would have leaked or created some speculation if this had occurred and he had received offers of alternative. employment . Maybe Trent just has an entitlement mentality in that he thinks that he has the right to essentially walk out on his coaching role and commitments on fairly flimsy grounds with no real genuine concern for the Manly club's interests or its supporters and players and then expect to get a major payout for then providing nothing for the club during the course of his previous obligations and contractual arrangements and post Manly time . Even if he thinks that he does have a legitimate case for his present stance [ and he may have some low grade legitimate issues], really can not see how he can justifiably expect to paid past the point of the conclusion of this season . Technically he may be able to expect to extend payment a bit further , maybe Manly should call his bluff a bit more . Something is probably almost being resolved and is no doubt not helping in the future coaching recruiting side but the club "s interests are way more important then Trents right now and rightly so .

The bloke is a tactical moron. This has been proven many times during 2018.

I dont care if the Pied Piper was hired as his recruitment manager , Barrett is an A grade dud.

I'm starting to think that football coaches think they are superstars.
Demanding they bring a consortium of assistants etc, which means that a club has to sack good people to make way for mob mentality.
Geeze, they are only ex-footballers who are reliant on the roster they have to succeed. (yes, there are great coaches like Jack Gibson and currently Bellache, but the majority of coaches don't have on-going success).
I feel coaches like Macguire are being egotistical to make too many demands. Frankly, what other options does he have? There are not many other clubs seeking a coach. To me he has overstated his importance and overplayed his hand. If he is not prepared to prove himself at our club I say: Stuff him!

Wow....so even unemployed coaches dont want a bar of us now.

Piss of Penn.
Just fk right off, and take your half baked, half assed, cheapskate tactics with you.
And no-one wants the coaches that resign from us either

Experienced is the key word here - please be Des Hasler. He rebuilt the club once and could do it again (without backend deals this time)
First up, Des was my hero but he broke my heart when he left and, given his record of leaving both us and the dogs in a stinking pile of debt when he left, it remains to be seen if it is even possible for him to do it without the backended deals because they are a MASSIVE carrot for retaining and attracting players...
Personally, I'd opt for Tooves out of the two coz hes already gotten results whilst working with no budget and a squad torn apart by infighting...

Yep stuff Maguire and we will keep our potential superstar coach Barrett

Good coaches attract players and player managers

So a choice between Manly,Broncos or maybe Tigers,I know which club I’d pick and it’s not the one he’d have to deal with owners that are not willing to run a club properly and took advice from a clown and a Greek

Agreed.

That team Hasler had was the last true team of footballers, not athletes.

They were old school.

All players now under 30 years of age are basically prima donna "athletes" and as such, expect the best of everything.

Take them through the Panthers, Bronco's, Dogs etc training facilities, then take them through ours. It's a no brainer for them.

I don't agree with it, but that's Gen Y.

It was exactly that "get up!, it's only a broken leg" mentality that gave Souff's 43 years of heartache .....

There is no excuse not to strive for Industry best practices in any endeavour ...... and it is the one and only job of any football club owner/administrator ...... put the team on the park with every advantage and benefit you can provide ...... any thing less is just playing at running a club ......
