With the cap on football department coming into effect from next season that is understandable tbh. We can't be over another cap again and then pay a 37% levy for any amount we are over. If the 500K fine we copped is coming out of that grant which is linked with football dept resourcing then we are behind the 8 ball already and paying out a second coaching team ontop of hiring new ppl cannot be done. For some clubs that have pokies/golf days to cover losses and pay levies on overspend that's all good but we aren't Bulldogs, Eels etc

Totally different when the player can implement a change out on the field as opposed to instructing others during the week on what to do in a given scenario

Manly chairman Scott Penn reiterated why Toovey was sacked.
“Obviously the decision had been made with a heavy heart,” Penn said. “It has certainly been a difficult decision but one the club felt was in the best interests of our future. It is an emotional time for our fans and our players.
“As a club, we are a results driven business, we live and die by our results on the field and 2015 has not been the season we are used to.
“We have been 10 years in the finals, this year we have been making decisions based on our results some 10 to 12 weeks ago where we were bottom of the ladder with not a lot of hope for the future.
“We are looking for a fresh start in 2016. We have been in dialogue with Geoff since the start of the year in regards to what are expectations are. There is hope now.”
How's that working for you Scotty? if it's a results driven business you should sell the licence as you have been a failure and we expect better.
Also how could you even think of Carty as an option he has been barrett's assistant and should shoulder some of the blame for the mess we are in.

Even if Scott swallowed his pride, I highly doubt Tooves would swallow his - not while the Penn's are still in charge. Unfortunately, but couldn't blame him. Now if the Penn's were gone, me thinks Tooves would be back in a heartbeat!

Agree. Don't fund the tight ass. No memberships. If he won't sell. Drive him out. Some times fans need to force change, for the betterment of the club.

I'm tending to agree, I need the 2 year membership pin to add to the collection anyway, that the club refuse to believe I earnt, even though I have a 5 and 10 year.
How you get a 5 year pin, without being acknowledged for a 2 year pin is still a mystery to me.
Wont happen because if Toovey has instant success SP and his merry men are gonna look more stupid than they already do for making the ridiculous decision to sack Toov's in the first place.
Of course its the only real acceptable option to the rank and file.

Unfortunately life is not that simple with us complex human beings .
I thought Toovey did a great job under adversity and under adversity Toovey consistent with his tough character did not fold and quit . Toovey wanted to stay and finish the job because he believed and had passion for the club . Trent came to Manly not because he ever had a passion for the club but because he had a passion for his coaching career . He said he loved the players but he did not love them enough because he made a decision to walk away from them. People that have passion for a club like Toovey do not walk away from things they believe in . Trent never had any association with our club and did not believe that he had something to offer and decided to get a better offer .
I am excited about next years because Trent wont be here
