Getting back to Maguire and forgetting the PPC for the moment.

The fact that he’s said diddly squat suggests it’s highly likely.

It’s just the Pennster agreeing to paying out the current coach 6 more months.

To be honest they must have known that from the get go, perhaps hoping he got a job elsewhere but knowing it was a payout situation.

Let me assure you if we get Cartwrong for 2 years I reckon we won’t have a club by the end of it.

And I reckon the Pennster knows it!!

Agree that I can't see there being a Sea Eagles club left if Penn appoints CartWrong.

Just not sure Penns is that smart when it comes to owning aa footbal club.

He did have his media men tell the world Catwrong is the man most likely to coach.

Hi - long time member but first time post. Brissie boy who played a bit of footie over the years including A Grade in Brisbane before the Broncos existed and a Qld High School rep. Manly supporter since 73! Anyway for what it is worth - my view of the big announcements next week will be - Madge is coach and will be signed for three years - they have agreed on a payout for Barrett, Cartwright will be Assistant and Matty Ballin might have a role, Centre of Excellence will be funded if Coalition returned in NSW, other vacant roles will be filled once Maguire is in place. I have no inside knowledge but also don't believe the Penn's are running this club to run last. We have a damn good squad with a few subtractions and additions. Letting Blake Green go was a shocking decision before Pearce was signed sealed and delivered - the Gladstone debacle derailed us and showed Barrett was just too inexperienced to handle that and he essentially let the players have free reign up there. Those two key mistakes ruined the season and the Salary Cap issue was just the final straw to decimate moral. Not everyone was on the Barrett bandwagon - some were - some were not - if all aren't rowing in the same direction the boat sinks and then when injuries hit we were goners. Barrett had to go because he did not have the full support and confidence of the players. I still think he will make a decent coach at some club. But yes not all doom and gloom like some of you on here think. If Maguire coaches - watch out - he wont take any crap and this will be a hard edged side with some steel to add to the attacking brilliance we have in spades. My two cents worth anyway. Thank you for the enjoyment over the years reading everyone's posts - I thought it was time to not just be a watcher but be a contributor.

I think therein lies the problem.
Next year we have a cap for operations, paying out Barrett 6 months whilest madge 12 months would be a decent hit.
Assuming of course Barrett's payout is included in next year's cap?

Peter Bladel on NRL Tonight (Fox) is saying Maguire has expressed interest in Broncos job for 2020. Losing the salary cap appeal, paying out Barrett will also put stress on Penn finances. I have no info either way however I will be surprised if we all of a sudden appoint a whole new coaching/support structure on top of financial penalties. One may choose to stem the flow for 2019 and Cartwright therefore makes sense.

The financial penalties are not new we have known about them all year. If Cartwright is appointed you can have all the feel good kiss ass fan meetings you want with Gorman it won't matter, you should just shut the doors to the membership department.
Carty must feel great he knows the only reason he get's the gig is because the owner is a tightarse not he is the best choice.
If I was Madge I wouldn't touch us.

I don’t buy that, Maguire would be behind. Walters, seibold and demetriou.

This has the smell of Mitchell Pearce all over again
We had him signed sealed and delivered but in the end we lost him to the Knights.
They are crazy , that is the Penns if they think appointing carty will keep up good memberships numbers and fans attendance next year.
Maguire is the only option they should be considering.

Local A grade games will be getting bigger crowds if Cartwrong is coach. We'll be getting 3,000 to 5,000

Still Manly have been given an additional $4 million dollars to assist in running the club. It means Penn has to put in less than previous years. Financially we are better off than this year, just with a smaller cap (which has also gone up $200K). Salary cap will be jack sh1t in getting a coach over for 2019. He can build to 2020. There is plenty of cash around for next year.

Thank you Mark - much appreciated - not sure how to use the portal yet but hopefully I will get the hang of it lol

You’ll be fine mate, trial and error!!

Great to have you on board ( guess you already know all of us and our personalities if you’ve been watching on for some time)??
