They will take the hit Mark.

We played like ****. We were embarrassing.Crowds falling to all time lows.Membership in crisis. And the greatest indictment of all ... the players seem happy for it all to roll along as is.

Competent new coach. Young talented roster.Let the next chapter in our great history unfold. It will happen.
Yep, and they know it!!

Another year like 2018 and there will be bugger all to sell!!

I never said any deal had been signed. We have an offer to Madge but obviously no deal can be struck at the moment. You'd also be mad to think madge isnt asking for 700k a season.
Alot can change quickly in this game but as far as im aware madge is our first choice and we'd have to be on the 700k price range to get him
not to be rude but I know he isn't asking that much...its in the ballpark but it ain't 700k

That was a question I raised last year .... do the Penns have the money and won't spend it ... or are they short of a bob?

..I don't know.
He has serious coin but also has a very messy divorce unfolding with a lot of assets in play. Not sure I’d have my mind on the job or spending freely elsewhere not knowing what he’s up for.

But those are his issues. As Manly fans we just want a resolution to all this coaching and ownership speculation.

Believe the figures given are that clubs spend $6-$8 mil on running costs .... so still a whack comes fro Leagues Club grants or owners pockets ......

What I am not sure of is whether the mooted running cost cap has been officially introduced ..... cue our research queen .. @HappilyManly
The soft cap for footy ops is active from 2019 and that is why Clubs are busy signing staff now as their contracts are pre 1 Nov 2019.

I haven't seen an itemization of what staff are footy ops. As it's the NRL, this will be a loophole IMO.
For instance, accountant CFO, Director of Footy Ops should be exempt. But who knows what's in Greenturd's head :wondering:

I thought sCam's 'retire if we win' comment is also driven by the need to front load his salary to bypass the soft Cap start date.
He will be on staff for sure, whether Scumos or Broncs :nerd:
Also interest in Slater from the Cows but that may just be a rumour.

Any Club that exceeds the 6 million will have a 37% levy to pay to the NRL for the amount above the Cap

AFL has had this awhile but it's 9.5 million

There’s also the new cap on football dept staff to take note of. It could be this rather than tightarsedness.

Good point.

But given other clubs have coaches on $1 million plus per season and we have reportedly spent very little on support staff, I can't see how we would be even remotely close to this new cap. Especially comparing to other clubs.

But isn't the Grant $13.5 million next year and the salary cap is only $9.6million.... So still $4 mill to play with. Its not coming out of his pocket anymore
Costs a lot more than $4m to run a football club

A decent coach would be at least $750-$800k pa and then there is all the other support staff such as physios/trainers etc

I know, but they were getting nothing this year weren't they, so anything would be a bonus. Up till now they only got enough to pay the salary cap, I was led to beleive.

Thanks Happily,

From reading that I understand that if a club over spends the soft cap .... the "punishment" is that they have to pay to the NRL a levy of 37% of the amount they are over ........ we goodness .... that will detour clubs like Broncos, Parra and Bulldogs ....

So, like the real salary cap ... they have also made this an uneven playing field .... all the rich clubs have to do is pay the NRL a tax to cheat ..... everybody is a winner ...

At least it is in some way more honest from GreenTurd ..... pay us a tax and you can cheat all you like ...

But how does the NRL know what the Clubs spend on actual footy related staff.:wondering:

Manly were paying Baz to clean and decorate for 3 years 😛

Buzz on NRL360 saying Maguire has all but signed with Manly
