Who do you think will be coaching us next year?

Mate Toovey will put bums on seats , Hasler may deliver us another comp . Dessie is the coach we need .
I see it like this, Des has been one of the best. We could have some concerns, those last couple of years at the dogs, just the inability to change the attacking structures and style, i wonder if hes past it, but look back at brooky after a freshen up, id certainly give Des my support. And with Des and in fighting and politics at the dogs, it could have been deliberate with SORRY;-)

I know some people have a view toovs had a great team.

I disagree. He had some experience, champs like Snake, Killer, Choc, Gift, Skivvy, Ballin, Kite. But not one was ever in there prime. Some didn't train, Snake was breaking down, it wouldn't have been ideal.

The cap was #ucked.

The year he was 20 minutes away from winning the comp, if my memory is correct I think Nevil nobodies plucked from reserves or 20's were huge parts of that years team non stars like Hasson, Horo, Gower, Lawrence, Sene Lefao, Hiku, Roses.

Great coaches over come adversity and they make the hard calls.

Time tells us Toovs calling time on Gifty, Kitey, King, just everyone was the right call.

Penn was white anting him that last year but the entire time with the joint system. It's the way he handled himself throughout that adversity the speaks of his champion qualities.

All coaches have their strengths and weaknesses. That is why they have assistants.

They'd both have my full support.

But in my (perhaps biased maroon and white eyes) Toovs is every single bit as good.

Has he coached anywhere. I cant see where he's been a head coach???
Temporarily took the head coaching role of Catalan Dragons (I think, don't quote me .. just remember reading it) when they sacked their head coach. In 2017.... Maybe?

I thought the same, but then considered when they made the statement on the credentials of a new coach, they thought they had Maguire in the bag.

By the same token, Monaghan would be a colossal stretch.

You sound like a nice trusting kinda guy and im with you, so am I
I just hope that trust isnt misplaced and they have been schooled to say what she said to you to get your $$
Penn could have told her it's a results driven business;-)

When I sought advice on how to cancel my auto-correct, think it was the day before McGuire knocked the club back, I similarly said I needed to see who the coach was first.

The Manly girl couldn't have been more pleasant, and said she said she had sorted it all for me. I received a comment like she hoped I'd be back.

I am hoping it means the good news is since Madge said no.

But I have to say I was really really impressed by the professionalism and courtesy of the girl in membership.

She must have one tough job. And with call after call to cancel etc it would be easy to treat someone like just another number.

It's not often you feel like nothing is a hassell etc especially from this club in the past.

CUSSO please pass on credit, where credit is due.

Referring back to the interview with Scott Penn in August (thread's closed so can't refresh it), I doubt it's Monaghan as Penn said they're looking for "proven performers" and not a rookie coach (they had made that mistake with TB). Also had to be hardened and strong and someone who could instill confidence...

As for Hasler's departure, he said “We were absolutely not happy about how it transpired,” Penn said. “He (Hasler) took the whole coaching staff with him. Did that leave a bitter taste? Absolutely. Is that recoverable? Time has passed but there are still wounds there.” That says to me it's highly unlikely Des will return, but I guess never say never.

Toovs didn’t really change anything when he took over from Des. Literally, nothing at all. He most certainly was twenty minutes away from a grand final win, but with the team Des built. I think Toovs definitely has the makings of a successful NRL coach, I know I’d love to play for him. But there is no better coach currently available than Des Hasler.

Hope that it's DES, is probably the only real hope I've got regarding our club at the moment.

So I choose to read this article as interesting,
1. because Penn is publically contemplating if things could be recoverable with Des.

2 because I don't believe I've remotely read anything similar re Toovs? (Could be wrong)

3. because Penn says "Time has passed but there are still wounds there." Isn't the old saying, "Time heels all wounds. And if it doesn't you name them something other than wounds and agree to let them stay"? Is time having passed and wounds a cryptic clue Scotty?

4.#uck please not Mr CartWrong

What the heck. Tomorrows Telegrizzle's pack page is reporting that the Sea Eagles are looking at Jason Taylor as a possible coach. Now are they that far behind the news that they have to wait for it to be discussed on Silvertails days ago. Do one of you guys work for the Telegrizzle. Come on. Put your hand up. Maybe someone's selling the story for a couple of extra bucks. That I could understand, especially it its Fake News.

Beat up to make us happy about Cartwright. Or Henry. Surely.

Cartwright is not a proven performer and neither is Neil Henry

This coaching situation is stupid beyond belief and should have been solved weeks ago. Just to summarise where we are at .......... We have two club legends in Dessie and Tooves who are both currently available, both have bled maroon and white, both with pretty good coaching records and both I would think would walk over hot coals to coach us again? Yet from all reports our leadership is so petty that they can't put past differences a side and instead they are seriously looking at the absolute, absolute dregs of the coaching world e.g Cartwright or Taylor to lead us out of the mess we are in. Yeah, that makes sense .......... I can see another premiership on the way.........

Cam i don't think this will be happening mate . He's a cock on the piss, he's got a weird looking honker , and he got dropped from Northern Eagles 1st grade to regies . So no mate , he doesn't fit the bill. Seriously it will be Cartwright , Toovey or Des with the latter two shortning in price.
