as I have tried to tell you numb-nuts for 18 months ..... Tom is about 5kg's and a year away from becoming one of our best ever 2nd rowers ....

Gotta say, the way Holmsey carries on about Tom is making me resent Tom a little.

Jake is every bit deserving of all the accolades he gets and has been rock solid ever since he debuted. He would actually make my all-time Sea Eagles side if I was to pick one. Tom on the other hand has a lot of **** that he needs to fix up. Capable of throwing a ripper of a pass every now and then but I don't have total confidence in his ball playing.

Jake is way ahead of Tom as a player at this stage and certainly on track to be in every Manly greatest team. Just needs to cut his penalties down.

Until we start winning premierships or at the very least drag ourselves out of the bottom 4 and start making finals consistently again we have NO players on track to be in ANY of Manly's greatest teams. 😛

TOM IS NOT A FULLBACK, he is a WINGER. that i why he did well in SOO.
tall and good under the bomb , runs the ball out well.

Sarcasm or serious? I can't tell but if you are serious... F#CK NO! Tom is a terrific fullback and will remain in the jersey for years to come. If Tom was on the market most clubs would move on him to make him their fullback.

Well, if any of those established players weren't available then I guess a young player who shows potential. Then, we would have to take the risk on whether or not they can learn and grow into a great FB. But, to date, Turbo has shown a surprising and worrying lack of development over the years in that position. Just because he has outstanding attributes in his game does not mean we have to persist with him in such a key role if he is not showing the ability to learn and grow into it.

PS: having said that. I'm also aware of the major problem having such a chunk of wage tied up in Turbo and the pragmatic obstacle of making such a change.

While we dont have a recognised 5/8 i would have anyone playing fullback that has any sort of ball playing ability. We are losing because our 5/8's are all **** and our fullback is not capable of compensating.

If we could sign a world class 5/8 id be happy for Tom to play fullback. But since thats not likely id prefer we signed a decent fullback, a decent 5/8 and play Tom at centre with Walker.

Now i have a question,

How is the way Tom plays any different to Latrell Mitchell?

I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Wright have a few games back there to see how he goes. He has a lot of the skills of a top fullback and would then be able to pick and choose when to become involved which I think would suit him more.

Do I think he would be better than TT? Not to begin with but would be my replacement if TT was injured. This would mean more time investment in a player learning a position and we have put a few years into TT now who unfortunately seems to have stagnated since mid last year.

That last post tells me I've won this discussion. Making claims with zero facts to back it up. I'll be laughing 10 years down the track when Tom is still playing fullback and still a superstar fullback of the game.

If you are serious about TT being moved, would you not give Anderson a run at fullback? Probably destined to a wing spot moving forward. I possibly would give TT the outside centre spot because Suli (whilst young, and not filled out to be the man he will become) imo too slow. Speed wins in most cases. Our outside backs are probably one of the slowest.

The question on TT is if we move him, do we loose most of our scoring potential?

Been through this a million times but Anderson is not in the top 30 so cannot play unless we have no others available (and we have a lot of outside backs).
