Is Tom's best position fullback?

Yes it's clear Jake has got the "hands" in the family. Tommy only young, so we can hope that he will develop those ball skills with time, but at the moment it's a shortcoming in his game that prevents him from making the most of the opportunities that the good running parts of his game help him create.

Also is it just me but has the Horhay skip hop play the ball routine infected the whole side ? Tommy and DCE I notice now do that awkward wrong foot slow play the ball. Momentum killer

Tom needs a proper coach. Under Fitler he looked unstoppable and disregarding he was on the wing he had no handling problems defence was good. He is a fullback but not under baz right now.

So, which 'proper' coach does Turbojet need to reach his potential?
And how exactly does an 'improper' coach stifle Turbojet's ability?
Did Twenty fail to ask the team to walk on the grass in bare feet? Or did he forget to blindfold them at training? Are you forgetting that NSW lost the last SOO match? Did he receive any criticism for promoting Sims who was the greatest contributor to the NSW loss?
I can't see any praise for Twenty for promoting Tom Wright to 5/8. It's what everybody on here were calling for. And I've seen very little about how Wright did nothing of note in the match.
It seems to some posters Twenty can't do anything right. Even when our SOO representatives have a good match he gets blamed for them not being as good when playing for Manly.

Trent has failed as a coach of this team. Any other coach would help Tom reach his potential. Freddy showed it's possible. Trent is a failure.

Learning/teaching is not as simple as some people like to make it out to be. We all respond and learn in different ways. For some, watching visual material works better.... watching the desired behaviour (tapes of a master in action for example) over and over, mixed with visual mental rehearsal. Others respond well to verbal instruction from a mentor who picks something up in their game and tells them. Some players need to go through actual physical drills and learn how it feels in their bodies to go through certain patterns. Then there are all sorts of variations and combinations of these. Then, you also have the actual relationship between the teacher and learner, their relevant EQ, being aware of the motivational drivers (as well as the negative triggers), etc...

Training somebody is much more complex than simply putting together a guy with knowledge and/or ability and somebody who needs to learn. I have no idea on Baz's or Fittler's abilities/awareness in the above... all I do know from observation is that Turbo is showing very little growth and development in key areas of his game over the past few years under Baz.

As someone who trains and coaches for a living

There are generally two reasons coaching may not be successful, other then anything physically impossible.

The individual has a behavioral issues and is unwilling to learn/improve.
Or the coach/trainer is incompetent.

I don't know what it is in this situation but I would personally be confident in betting on one over the other.

You would think Tom would put his best foot forward to improve under Baz so he can't be unwilling to improve. It looks as though and sounds like Baz already thinks Tom is a complete elite fullback could that lead him to focusing less on Toms weak areas? To be honest I think Toms errors are not game breaking or that bad, they are just frustrating but we all are forgetting he is only early 20s and has a long way to go. Wait until he is in his prime then compare him to the good fullbacks but right now it's unfair comparing a 22 year old to established first grade stars and legends. The fact is if he hit the market most clubs barring knights and Roosters would look to him as a long term fullback option in a heartbeat.

So if we’re moving Tom to the wing or Centre as suggested, what are we planning on doing with his 800k salary?

It isn’t going to happen.

He might be able to be taught the proper lines to run so he doesn't cramp the play by running too wide in back line plays.
He might be able to be taught that strong kick returns are important.
He might be able to be taught about positional play.

But if you can't catch and pass at 21 then you probably never will. You're either a ball player or you are not. He's not.

Toms one of the best ball players in the game, I can't believe you just said he isn't that is laughable haha.

2016 11 line break assists 11 try assists
2017 17 line break assists 19 try assists
2018 10 line break assists 8 try assists

Just waiting for the usual stats aren't everything comment so you can inevitably prove your point without logic. He can catch as shown in origin and for Manly (only had that one really bad game) and can pass shown in his stats since moving to fullback. And can't bring back the ball now? Did you not watch origin! He was the best at it out of all the backs out each side! He is only 21 come back and judge him when he is in his prime but the fact he is producing these and he is still a long way away from his prime should be filling everyone with excitement and the opposition with fear.

You're certainly spot on with this. He's leading the competition (with a team sitting towards the bottom of the ladder), in terms of Try Assists and second for Line Break assists.

Not true and Not true.

Im glad you brought that article up.

Interesting that his try assist percentage is the same as his errors percentage. Considering this is legit the only backline play we use i would expect these numbers to be high. They should be higher though just through the sheer volume of times we use it.

He is also the lowest scorer per game with 0.14 Tries per game

He is 2nd in individual line breaks and 3rd in tackle breaks.

All of this tells me that he is a brilliant hole runner. A ball player he is not.
