Faith in Walker

The issue with Walker is simple, its his defence! Same reason Suli can't get his centre spot back! When Walker last played centre for us on the right side of the field we leaked points like a siv. He was then shifted to the left and guess what happened? Our left leaked a lot of points. At that time he was moved to 5/8 as he didn't have to make those split second defensive decisions. When I posted 2 years ago it was because of his defence, a lot on here disagreed AND some that disagreed at the time are now on the other side of the fence and say he actually is a defensive liability.

He hasn't played centre for over 2 years with 2 different coaches. Its fair to say they don't like what they see from him at centre at training and im willing to back their judgement!
 
It just seems when he comes on we have too many ball players and he feels like he has to make an impact immediately with his running game. If he just link played it be a different story i mean when he goes left we have foz and shoe so just pass the ball and let them set something up. For the right he can get more involved because there's only chez with turbo covering from behind on both sides. Idk I feel for the guy des has him playing all over the shop!

I hope you're not fair dinkum old mate, I for one really enjoy your input, don't be driven away by negative responses, we all get those but overall it's an enjoyable place to sometimes learn or have a laugh, don't take it too seriously, whether here or in life in general it’s not worth the angst

Agree and would be a big fan. Rest Foz, bring back the big 3, maybe rest Marty or one of the forwards if we can.

I completely disagree with that. He started playing 5/8 for us in 2018, because we had no other alternatives, and was the best option available (at that time). We got Hodko very late that year, to fill in, because even Barrett felt we needed two specialist halves (and Barrett messed around with Tom Wright, who ended up leaving) - and he ruined Nicho Hynes.

In his 9 years in first grade, this is his second highest tackle efficiency %

Below is the 2018 team. Love the absent players - apparently Peter Schuster played for us that year haha

Stick around mate - I agree and disagree with basically everyone here at times....
Personally been guilty of not minding my own business and wrongly turning on a Super insightful poster on here, for reacting probably how I would have to some unwarranted comments and poor form my part tbh....none of us are perfect, but we have 1 great thing in common, all big Manly fans so end of the day stick solid....you are part of the site now madmax - so hang around for the good times ahead....

I know it's the fact because I remember yelling at Walker through the TV time and time again.
People were blind to why he was moved back then but I know 100% its why! And its why he hasn't been back there since.

For such a "great" centre its amazing he hasn't played there for so long. It seems he's been playing out of position out of necessity for 2.5 years 😉

Wasn't he actually recruited by Baz and Bozo to play 5/8 in 2016. He wasn't supposed to be our centre, I remember the fan fair at the time he played 5/8 in 2016 until he argued with that door and busted his hand

Regardless of what he was recruited for, I am talking about when he last played centre for us.

Manly have officially confirmed the signing of Dylan Walker from South Sydney with the Test representative inking a four-year contract with the NRL club.

Walker has been training with the Sea Eagles for the last month and the club finally announced the deal in a statement released in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The 21-year-old, who won the 2014 premiership with the Rabbitohs playing at centre, said he’s targeting the five-eighth spot vacated by Kieran Foran’s move to Parramatta.

“I would love to play six alongside Daly Cherry-Evans and inside both Steve Matai and Jamie Lyon,” Walker said. “Five-eighth was my favourite position coming through the juniors and if the coach wants me there I will jump at the opportunity.

“I’m excited to be at such a great club once I was moving from Souths, the Sea Eagles was my first and only priority. I’m delighted I am now a Sea Eagle.”

Regardless I was making the point that at the time of his signing he wasn't considered to be a centre for us. That he was forced to center as a necessity rather than being forced to 5/8 as another poster implied.
Simply I was agreeing with you that the coaches didn't want him at centre for whatever fault they could see, going back to his signing..

We bought him in the hope he would become a 5/8 much like Broncos are hoping Staggs can. They were both centres before that. He wasn't actually a 5/8 at the time of the signing, it was a hope and a prayer!

Your missing the point buddy.
I'm not arguing with you, I'm saying Manly bought him to play 5/8 not to be a centre, call it what you will but he was bought to play 5/8, so posters saying he isn't getting a fair go because he is not playing centre are overlooking the fact we was never in the side to be one.
We put him back to centre but again he was shifted out.

2 coaches and the great Bozo saw it that Walker is neither a 5/8 or centre. So his present utility role and sub is likely his best shot with us.
