I dont assess players on the basis of being a 'fan boy' as is suggested and I suspect many who think he's going OK also share that position. Hard as it may sound, I'm only interested in their performance on the field. Again there's this tendency to diminish others opinions when they don't suit your own. That's myopic.
I've always considered Walker our best centre and that's based on past observations. Its an opinion but it isn't because I have the hots for the player. I didn't think he handled five eighth that well and I said that (obviously forgotten by some). I wasn't sure about his role as a utility, and he's had a few games where he was seemingly struggling. But some games recently have said to me he's gaining in skill, and quite frankly against St George he had a top game in my opinion...not because I like him as I don't see players in that manner...but because the performance as I saw it was good. Now his previous match wasn't as good.
Sometimes I thing there are those calling the kettle black as they say. They seem to have a personal dislike of certain players and that influences how they see their play. Its an emotional rather than purely observational perspective. As for Parker, he's improved this year, thanks a lot to being given more room by Foran, Turbo and Schuster. And he always seems to give his best so I certainly have no issues about him being retained.
Its not personal. If it becomes personal your perspective is coloured.
