'ex' Barrett's Bulldogs

Can't believe people are still going on about Barrett? The same.people who drop the "you're so negative" diatribe here too. It's laughable. @PONTIAN SEA EAGLE , your mates make a good point. It's petty, really.

What people forget, it was only when Barrett left that Scott Penn opened the purse strings to spend some of the huge profits he made on the sale of the league's club on infrastructure, staff, management that we began improving.

This is Trent Barrett's first year of managing his own roster at The Dogs, and budget it seems isn't a question. Once Mahoney and Kikau get there, let's see how he goes.

I have to say again, it's bad juju to laugh at anyone elses misgivings. We are now 3 wins, 2 losses this season and Tommy's out for who knows how long. I reckon humility is the key here.
Barrett has proved over and over again that he can't coach. They have the troops this year to be a top 8 side but they won't be.

My bulldog mates want to know why we have a bulldogs thread are we sister clubs or something. You don’t see any manly related threads on there sight seriously get rid of it.
Bulldogs mate..... I seem to remember many years ago being at Telstra stadium sitting in a corner you nearly having fisty cuffs with the dogs fans...

Barrett is a bit like Crusher Cleal IMO.

After Crusher retired at the end of the 1989/90 English season (he played 31 games with Hull after leaving us), he turned his hand to coaching (with Hull) but it didn't really turn out all that well. However, he did go on to a long and celebrated career as a talent scout. He could spot the talent, he just couldn't coach it.

Barrett is the same really. Can't coach, but is actually good at spotting talent.

I see your point, I think Barrett makes an exceptional assistant coach, given a narrow specialist area to work in he excells as he has done when an assistant.
It just seems the extra step to a broader scale responsibility and demand of head coach is not in his natural ability.

I’m not convinced Bartlett can spot talent either. Many of turbo’s nyc team are playing elsewhere, having left under Barrett. Hynes, ramien, garner, knight.

His reported success at Penrith coaching the lower grades has more to do with the huge junior catchment at Penrith than it does with Bartlett.

I know many of you silvertails are nice people and are probably just trying to be nice about Trent. But you need to face facts: he can’t coach, and is not a good talent spotter either.

Yeah I agree but didn't want to say anything haha.

Barrett brought Api & Brown with him from the Panthers.

Apart from them I can't recall any other players he was responsible for recruiting? Bozo & sons were responsible for all of our recruitments prior to Des returning weren't they?

Correct me if I’m wrong - but I’m pretty sure when he was head coach of the junior panthers - that was the only year they didn’t win the comp.

I do love his records though, in 2021 he led the Dogs to a teams worst start since 1928 - what a legend.

He led them to their 3rd biggest defeat in the Dogs 86yr history (66-0 against us).

He led them to the clubs 6th spoon.

What a coach.

Dogs are so lucky 😂😂
His record as a first grade coach is absolutely appalling. He took us in 2018 to one of our worst seasons in history with Dce both turbos, fainu, api, Siro, walks etc.

Des was unlucky not to have us in the grand final or even winning the comp in 2019 with the same squad and with turbo injured. We were robbed against souths in that prelim when Jake was sent to the bin and had beaten Canberra twice that year so we may have gone on to the gf.
We were closer in 2019 than 2021 to being premiers in my opinion.

Barrett also had a gun squad with us in 2016 and we were bottom 4.

Barrett had one decent season with us in 2017.

I can’t see why clubs keep hiring him. Dogs went so far backwards under him last year once pay left. His record is astoundingly bad.

Wow you’ve brought back memories jerry my mates were also sitting in that vicinity of where we were they came to my aid when i was escorted out.Us greeks stick together.

If you look at the Bulldogs 1 - 13 tonight v Panthers. It is a very good team.

If they had a decent coach they should be vying for the top 8.

With Twent, they will be fighting for bottom 3.

@Dan
Can you add LOL at the end of the thread title 😀

I would suggest - beyond the reprehensible conduct of Flogburg, it is more likely linked to our hating the supporters which was driven by such Trolls as Mr Invisible and his other idiot mate from C'Town - we know they still live with their mothers in houso accomodation, but despite their pathetic lot in life we still revel in their consistency as failures

Should you need further explanation please let me know

I could but it feels a bit redundant. If it mean if it are to do with the storm, I feel like technical coach would have it sorted

I mean I was placed on garden leave for resigning just over a week ago so I've forgotten what day it is, and I feel like we all need that kind of chill

Baz was a crap player and even crapier coach. His only skill is making drinking buddies at the pub. Give it up Trent.
