'ex' Barrett's Bulldogs

... and all the 'journos' will be speculating on the players Manly and Penrith will lose because of their man-crush on him.
Hoppa Jnr has already been touted. Won't that cause Silvertails to go into meltdown if true?
Dylan Walker being mentioned by Wilder now

I hope that Trent resigns Foran. I certainly don't want to see Foran back. Last time somebody gave Trent the keys he crashed the truck and blamed the truck, the road conditions, his passengers and ran over Jackson Hastings. A road wreck in Dogs territory on the way me thinks. As far players players joining him its time the NRL started ensuring that players honor their contracts for the duration of their contracts. I expect that the current situation with Moses might make the other player managers a little wary. Lest see if the NRL have any gonads or are all talk and no action.

You've got to admit Barrett's got balls, after the issues he had at Manly and the importance everybody here puts in having a former player as coach going to the dogs where that attitude is also extremely strong seems crazy. They got rid of Des because he didn't '"get the culture".

As soon as they hit a tough patch then it will be "Baz doesn't get the culture" and he'll be on thin ice.

I don't really get why he wants it. Just wait a few weeks and the Dragons will sack Mary and he could slide straight into St George and will have none of these issues, but it's his life!

Instead of us losing Albert, why don’t we make a play for Will and have the brothers play for us?
It’s looking like Gutherson all over again if we lose Albert, especially as his replacement signing is Morgan Harper. If we can’t even keep our talented juniors, what chance we will get a quality international or first grade equivalent.

It's always a problem with ambitious assistant coaches. Brad Arthur did his best to disrupt us and take as many with him as he could when he went back to the Eels. The difference might be that Manly's coaching was a mess at the time, going between Tooves and Barrett with Fulton oulling strings behind the scenes. Des being here now should make it more attractive for players to stay, assuming the money is more or less equal.

Now you know how people get when you start getting factual on ST @Woodsie !
Repeat after me:
Twent is bad because he left us, even tho we didnt want him to begin with because hes not Manly!!
Des is good although he left us when we did want him but all is forgiven because hes Manly!!
Come back Keiran, we forgive you for leaving us when we really needed you and we have forgotten about all the threats of legal action and the likelihood that you put us into the salary cap auditor and caused us years of grief because you are Manly!
Now try to stay on the rails @Woodsie and stop with all this critical analysis malarkey!!!

live and train under a proven coach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches or...?

OK .... I'll try again ... please refrain from answering with jingoistic memes or rants about Bozo .... simply give an answer to the questions ...

To remind you of the point ... I was saying that it is difficult to compare coaches

1) Do you judge Brad Arthur as a coach on his 2018 wooden spoon .... or the team he has put together and his results this year ?

2) Do you rate Ricky Stuart as a coach by his wooden spoons ... or his Easts Premiership and his results with the raiders for the past 3 years ?

3) Do you rate Paul Green as a coach by his 2 Grandfinals and a Premiership .... or his results this year ?

4) Do you rate Dessie as a coach by his 2 Premierships ... or his last 2 years at Bulldogs ?

Given the vast discrepancy in results attained by the same coaches ... only a moron .. or a clown ... would conclude anything other than that ... there are factors that determine results independent of who the coach is ....
Ok I will go with your logic . You mentioned the word factors that come into play
and as I said before the fact is that there was a head of football overseeing and guiding Trent and when he fell out with the head of football we all saw what happened
Another factor is the way DEs lifted the same players that Trent had and we all saw their improvement and the once lost Manly spirit that died under Trent is back again .
From what I have seen in the way Trent handled adversity and quit I would judge and rate his character more to Seibolds than your 1, 2, 3, and 4 other coach options
I will ask you this question . If you were CEO of a club that is desperate for success
Would you have Trent and Seibold as your head coach and please tell us why ?

Barrett has done nothing thus far as a head coach aside from under perform. Even when he had control of the best Toyota Cup side at Penrith he stunk the place up.

There is a vast difference between being a head coach and an assistant. The FACTS are that thus far, Trent has been an abject failure when steering the ship. Footy is a results driven business. His best results have been framed by his excuses and blame shifting to resemble a polished turd.

A few more facts here ...
Trent Barrett slammed for taking credit for Manly resurgence

The thing with Weidler and the others of his Ilk is they don't actually know. It is the exact same as us talking on here. We come up with subjective ideas and discuss it, the only difference is the vehicle we use to communicate it

Trent Barrett needs to be told he can't have the best of both worlds - if 'Baz' wants the job as head coach of the Canterbury Bulldogs, he needs to take up the position immediately.

Barrett has been offered a three-year deal to join the 'family club' but he wants to stick around with the Penrith Panthers for the remainder of the season to help them win a premiership.

Agreed. Can't hang around a sow seeds of discontent to the players he wants to ultimately poach.

Strange isn't it.

Ok..I'll coach but I only wanna start next year (still got some gardening to do).

Gee ok then... hang around and totally don't look at penrith players.

I'm sure the 'stern warning' from penrith about 'do not poach' will really stop Trent if he sees a dynamo of a player wanting more game time at the dogs.

I've told @Woodsie and now I'm telling you @Dan... leave logic out of it - it has no place on a passionate site like ST...

But it seems he has negotiated that outcome so why is it not permitted? Both parties seem happy with that arrangement so...
It's like if you negotiate a contract that says you get paid till June 30 regardless of whether you are head coach then...

I'll never forget Kristie's words:
History will not be rewritten, no way. I sit back and watch and read people take credit for many things and it’s hard to digest at times because I know who has been and continues to be instrumental in driving a lot of the change behind the scenes but I won’t accept this at all. Is he kidding? His arrogance and ego nearly tore the place apart

Barrett only wants to stay at the panfers until the end of this season because they are going so well, if they were bottom 8 he would be off to the dogs in a flash. Currently clinging to glory and no doubt will be claiming all the credit for the panfers season
He doesnt need to claim it MK... their best player already attributed the success of their attack to Twent...

Thought - maybe hes staying because he cares about the team?
Whoops, sorry - that doesnt fit the "Twent is a pariah" narrative...

Or perhaps he’s learned something from the way in which he abandoned the Manly boys in 2018. Time will tell I suppose.
