Aren't the three Dragons you mentioned injured ?

Isnt AFB missing due to an avoidable, and thus costly , decision ?

What difference does it make, unavailabe is unavailable.

And debelin is stood down, not injured in case you havnt been following the news.

It must be difficult as a captain to hold your temper with those fools. Personally I might struggle not to unleash a wave of vitriol.

The referee’s body language suggested he was lying through his teeth.
Plus his words were 'we're going upstairs to check' but he then just blows time @
Graham was going to deck him till the Ref assured him that the game was over

Not sure how many minutes Boyle played but he was walking by the end of his stint. Needs to work on his fitness. Tangles may have been the better option.

If only I had mentioned Walker and Tommy.

AFB would have been enough tonight., especially how the game was played.

Very Good point . AFB would have been dynamic again tonight

We had those big 3 out and we only lost in the dying minutes from a kick .

Both the Dragons tries were from kicks

Very Hard to take but......

We will take it with great pride in the way our team handled them selves

We were always in the game and nearly won it

Everyone says this, Tom plays =win, afb plays =win.

They were missing debelin, Widdop and Korbin sims. I don’t think we can play that card.
Tom is far more important to our team then all of those players combined for the dragons particularly in attack where we clearly were struggling.

Pack went really well and Suli actually stepped in with a few runs up the middle.

Corey is a keeper and played in both halves.
Don't know why Sipley and Boyle didn't come on as fresh replacements in the second half when both Jetski and Siro were struggling.

Joel got an accidental smashed nose in the first half and was well marked all game

Yep. Got caught lying in ruck a lot and was lucky not to be penalised. Big lad so needs some match conditioning coming off a long stint on the sidelines.

I thought Garrick was impressive at fullback tonight. Was safe under the high ball and don't think he made any mistakes. He ran hard with ball. His speed would give more options than Elliot, both from the back and as extra man. I say swap positions with Elliot till Turbo's return.

Yep, the obvious stuff... I'm impressed and very happy for the improved resilience in defence this year. I feel like we are certainly performing above expectations for the outs and cattle we have (oh, and BTW, very very happy and respectful for having Parker in the team).

This may not be a very popular opinion, but.... Marty has been underwhelming so far this season. I feel like he has been given a fair amount of leeway due to his status and past results, but for his money and capabilities, very very disappointing IMHO.

I don’t dispute how important tom is, but Widdop is their captain and goal kicker, and goal kicking and very nearly cost them tonight. I just think we have to give these things equal weight, you can’t say our outs are more crucial than theirs and definantly not in this instance. That’s not underplaying how important Tom is to us, it’s just been not biased.

Thanks Joe.

No problem

I can only assume Sipley was injured. Don't recall anything during the commentary, but seems unlikely you'd only play him for 1 x 17 minute stint, even with Elliots HIA thowing out the interchange plans a little

Yup, as we only used 7 interchanges it must mean that we were a man down

Manly coach Des Hasler to speak to referees’ boss Bernard Sutton over ‘questionable’ final play decision

Manly coach Des Hasler says he’ll be speaking to referees boss Bernard Sutton in regard to the final play in his side’s narrow loss to St George Illawarra on Saturday night at WIN Stadium.

With the Dragons up 12-10, Daly Cherry-Evans put in a last-ditch cross-field kick which was taken cleanly by Red V winger Jordan Pereira.

Sea Eagles players immediately appealed to on-field referee Dave Munro about an escort by Tim Lafai who appeared to deny Reuben Garrick a fair crack at the ball, but no penalty was given and full-time blown.

“It was black and white, there an escort, a player taken off the ball,” Cherry-Evans complained to Munro.

“You were willing to make the hard call when game wasn’t on the line but unfortunately that call needed to be made.”

Cherry-Evans was referring to a decision Munro made four minutes earlier when Brad Parker was pinged for a trip on Euan Aitken.

Lafai, who has taken over kicking duties from the injured Gareth Widdop, had an off night with the boot missed three relatively easy kicks — including the Parker penalty — which also made the scoreline closer.

“That last kick, the escort, I will be taking that to Bernie Sutton because that sort of goes directly in the face of what they were talking about as far as running defenders off the ball. I thought it was questionable,” Hasler said.

“It’s not consistent with what they’ve been saying.

“(The Parker trip) was even more innocuous than (the escort). I thought they lacked consistency there.

“It’s a bit confusing when they say these are going to be the guidelines on the escort and they won’t rule on an escort there. It would’ve taken the game at least into golden point.”

Fox League expert Michael Ennis agreed with Hasler and said the referees should’ve blown a penalty.

“You see Tim Lafai there. He clearly stops and impedes Reuben Garrick, who, if given the opportunity, would get to the contest,” Ennis said.

“It’s as simple as that. It had to be checked at least.

“I think it’s a bad call. I think it’s the wrong call. I’d like to be proven otherwise, but for me that was a blatant escort penalty and Manly should have every right to be filthy.

“They got it right down the other end when Parker trips Aitken.

“It should’ve been checked.”

The Dragons’ win sees them make it eight wins from nine games against Manly at WIN Stadium, the Sea Eagles’ only victory coming in 2003.

Speaking from the heart I am a little gutted, not because we lost, rather, because this team that many from the NRL world laughed at when the season started, have quickly realised we are not a walk over as the boys were in it till the end. Many of us endured several years of pain where we were put in similar situations and we were blown off the park as recent as last year. Yes we lost tonight, however, I am such a proud sea eagle even with a loss like that. It has been several years that I haven't felt this way. Several have critiqued our team as 'no chance', for me it is not just about the score, it is about how they make me feel.

The referee blunders, the odd mistakes from our boys, the apparent reserve grade players with apparently no hope is of little concern to me. I had lost my way a little bit the past few years, as the Manly I supported for so many years was not the Manly I was seeing. I will always support the boys regardless how the years pan out, however, the vibe and excitement was slowly dissipating

I can proudly say the emotion once again runs through the body with the efforts recently put forward by our team. Thank you Des/coaching staff and to every single player that represents us, it feels so good to feel the old Manly ways, from the start to the conclusion of every game, HOLD YOUR HEADS UP HIGH BOYS and thank you for the efforts
