The big question is...... What does DCE's wife think?
Sorry but you haven't a clue; he came back on huge money, and it was an extremely contentious decision that turned a lot of heads and put enormous stain on the cap. I have a very close source at the Dragons and Peter Mulholland has come on board to fix the absolute sh#t fight at Saints. The reason Merrin is going, is because recruitment changed hands after an initial figure was agreed re Trent, and Mulholland could not match it and keep the club under the cap. So Merrin leaves because Saints can't fit him under the cap, but now that he has gone, they can fit a 1 million dollar half back in, and pay out their other 700k halfback after sacking him?
Sound plausible
You said it yourself. PERCEIVED!!! Put the boot in after you know the facts.
F**kin high horse! Get out of the gutter...
The moral of the story is none of these 2 deserve the honour to be captain of Manly as they both have shown they have no real passion to stay with the club , The FACT is if they did have any real passion for the club they would have signed by nowThe moral of this story is that the club must never allow a player to hold the club to ransom ever again. The last few months have been really uncomfortable for all of us. You look with envy when you see our rivals have settled line ups and preparation for 2015 and get positive press when you contrast with all the stuff we have to put up with.
Joe Kelly has drawn a long over due line in the sand and lets hope that we get an answer from our halves, for their sake, the clubs sake and the rest of us. The whole process has exhausted everyone.
We should be focussing on belting our oldest adversary on Friday night and that has been engulfed by this circus.
As a few have said here, there is no point throwing out the baby with the bath water until we get official confirmation. I have been very critical as anyone of the whole disrespectful process. I am a member and 40 year fan and I just want to see my club united. For too long we have endured dysfunction and division.
Lessons have to be learnt from this.
Ease up mate we haven't all condemned him. I pointed out it is a negotiating tool. But in my world if you miss a deadline, well a deadline is a deadline. The club had to prove they had some backbone and couldn't let him walk all over them. They didn't say they wouldn't negotiate in the future. But I don't think you can deny kelly was right. It was all detracting from our round 1. I see it as a shot accross the bows. Calling his bluff if you will. Someone on here earlier summed it up well. It's like he wants to stay but wants Titans money. But you don't get Titans money at a club that isn't a cellar dweller. And if the deadline was midday Monday well they gave him 2 days slack and he or his manager or both ignored the club. Which in my opinion is a silly move. They played chicken and lostI have no idea about Cherry's personal life. I have no idea who he is friends with through family connections, junior football etc. I certainly have no idea what his intentions are.
We are a couple of days out from kick off for the year. Does anybody truly believe that the club didn't know he was meeting with the Titans? We are in full training. He was hardly being sneaky or dubious about it, so where does the disrespect come into it? Because he didn't allow himself to be forced into signing with Manly by Monday??
I'm a Manly fan too. I don't feel disrespected by him. At the season launch, he spent most of his time talking to fans and sponsors. Does that go in his favour?
If I was Orr, and I wanted him to sign with the Titans, I would print out these 12 pages and show it to him over coffee tomorrow morning. It'd break his heart. If you don't believe that, Then you must think he is a cold hearted, money grubbing prick, with no love for Manly what so ever. So then you must ask yourself why he didn't just sign with someone else for more money and be done with us?
I simply think putting the boot into him could have waited until after he says he's leaving. I'm disappointed that no one seems to agree. I think that stinks.
No one plays chicken with the mighty Sea eagles !!!Ease up mate we haven't all condemned him. I pointed out it is a negotiating tool. But in my world if you miss a deadline, well a deadline is a deadline. The club had to prove they had some backbone and couldn't let him walk all over them. Another mute point.A lepper never changes his spots obviously
We do know though how passionate they are to stay with Manly as they are making this very clear for all to seeAnother mute point.
As for the joy here that the club has taken a stand to get rid of DCE and Foz has obviously re-signed, well I Guess even a broken clock is correct twice a day (or once if it's digital)
Personally I think it is simply as stated - deal off table for now, concentrate on a game coming up, both Foz and DCE might leave or both might be Manly for life, we don't know yet.
He's a selfish dickhead. I will be cheering the Sea Eagles as usual but won't be cheering him. He's shown us what he thinks of his team mates, the club and the fans. He doesn't deserve our support or respect.I feel for Cherry, I really do. This whole situation has been handled terribly by everyone involved and he's been caught in the middle. And as much as I hate the constant use of the word "brand" (it's up there with the overuse of "rugby league is a business"), it's been seriously damaging to his brand. The way it's played out (and yeah, he has to take a large portion of the blame himself), he's come across as the poster boy for Gen Y selfishness - a mercenary who doesn't give a stuff about his team or his team mates. Even if he does end up staying, people (Manly supporters and NRL fans in general) are never going to hold him in the same high regard again. He's probably aware of that now, and he may well be wondering what the hell he's done.
But when you're young you make mistakes. When you're young you're a dickhead. I know - I was young once and I was a dickhead. That doesn't mean you stay a dickhead, but it can get you into situations you'd rather not be in. And having a manager pulling you in different directions every day sure as hell can't be helping.
Is there a way back for Cherry from here? Any chance he'll stay at Manly after this? Maybe, maybe not. We're all still as clueless as ever. But right now he's a Manly player, same as Foran, and I'll be cheering on both of them come Friday night.
The thought of losing a player isn't what upsets me. I just hate it when people turn on someone so badly before the sin has been committed. There's no need for it.
And I apologise for the aggression. I guess I'm a little too passionate when it comes to Manly players.
The thing that worries me is that Toovey seemingly had no idea the offer had been pulled last night, surely the head coach would be a huge part of this process?
Mate they've made Tooves a lame duck by trying to secure the Parra coach in a poor attempt to retain DCE and Foran. The club was willing to sacrifice him.
Toove's position is now very tenuous.
