Yep I reckon DCE had one of his best years and he was 100% fit and never missed a minute of footy. He's not perfect but he ain't our problem. Agree the huge chunk he takes out of our cap does have ripple effect on who else we had but all top players are on big coin at every other club too.

Its the rest of the backline that is pathetically below standard ( as a whole ). Several of our backline are not first grade standard at all and I doubt they'd be much chop in lower grades. We all know who they are.

And the thing is, he is not really overpaid compared to others. You don’t get much change out of a mill these days for a halfback. What screwed people’s opionions was the length of the contract. He may well be under the mark in the last 3 years of his contract.

If the club is smart. Or if they are prepared to do it . Couldn’t they move him into the coaching side of things if his form drops off for the final 2-3 years. That way he wouldn’t be counted in the cap and we would avoid another Nate Myles fiasco.

Would make him the highest paid coach in the NRL. The NRL would still count his salary toward the cap ala Snake, Skivvi, Monsieur Plod. So fingers crossed he stays healthy until 2023.

I don’t know if it would be counted. Perhaps Happily Manly could tell us. I thought if a player retires before their contract is up such as Peter Wallace and took up a position on the coaching team there pay would not be included in the cap. The players you mentioned didn’t stick around ‘to coach’ like Wallace at Penrith has. The smart clubs find a way around it. It would however, I’d imagine come down to the player and club agreeing on an amount for them to be paid to coach. I have heard the Broncos have struck similar clever, creative deals with players as well.

He has no pre-existing/long term injuries when he signed the deal, therefore medical retirement will be granted

Very harsh on DCE . The team lost 15 games and there were plenty of worse players than him. Any 7,6 or 9 need pack that dominates the go forward and the ruck.
And as far as being worst half back in the NRL - we’ll off the top of my head , Sam Williams from the Raiders is a half back you must have forgotten about ....and a few others.

Tonight is the night he has to step up hes our captain and most expensive player hes also our most experienced player. Its going to rain which means its anyones game, they have 2 key players out of there spine we have one. Our bench is better then theres. This is dces time to stand up or we will be 0-2. Imo he can be a great player when he has someone telling him what to do ie lyon snake gifty foran blake green and slater in origin. This guy was an absolute gun from 2011-2014.. since then hes been average with some small purple patches. His tally has already begun and he is 0-1. He needs to play to the conditions tonight small kicks behind the rushing defense to keep them in 2 minds, a couple of show and goes wouldn't hurt either. What about a chip n chase? This is a forgotten move in the nrl. He just does the same thing every game drops the ball back inside for siro and a long pass for suLee. Time to change it up time to step up.. watching James Maloney tonight compared to dce last week is incomparable if Maloney stuffs up he makes up for it he made many game changing plays tonight. I cant remember the last time dce did. The tally has begun so far....

He's a good player.. He's surrounded by park footy players except a handful.

We buy an absolute rubbish team we get absolute rubbish results. Dce trys, but when no one at all bothers taking the ball on the 5th and he has 3 opponents ontop of him before the balls in his hands what exactly is he expected to do???

Absolutel myth. I was hoping someone would start this topic. I think we should seriously consider getting rid of him after this year. NOT worth anywhere near what we are paying him. I thought once he re gained his Aus and qld Jersey he'd step up a level but it just hasnt happened

Respectfully disagree. He was pooh in 2016. Had a good 2017, pooh again last yr and started pooh so far this year. He could not organise a route in a brothel. How many times he gets caught on the 4th and 5th and takes the wrong option is not good enough
