I have been watching DCE & Foran play together for the last 13 months.

Not really on the war path , just asking the question, are they working as a team for the betterment of Manly.

IMO, no they are not. They are both brilliant players, but they need to work more as a team.

Am I really on the war path asking this question?
I truly want Manly to be the best team it can be, hence asking some questions

Did we not play some absolutely brilliant footy last year? Were you not entertained? Did DCE and Foz dissapoint last year?
Is it not just round 2? Did we not play the reigning premier's on their home ground and the Chooks on their's? Don't we have 23 rounds of the regular season to go?
Its just a stupid question 2 rounds into the season.
I'm first to admit that if come round 10 we are 3 - 7 or 2 - 8 then yes ask as many questions as you can but why be so negative so early.

Considering his ouput do we need to. Foz, walker, schuster and some youngies coming through are not going to win us some comps but either is DCE but we might be competitive against better teams with another 1.2 to spend

I was watching the Penrith game with the boys when penriths halves had the ball they were throwing the ball wide with there backs sitting deep then running onto the ball on the charge.While we were just throwing passes to the forwards hoping to charge over & score there’s no creativity that doesn’t always work.

DCE has been around a long time and performed at the top level but his form is down due to his poor decision making which has a huge impact on the side. I hope DCE finds form soon rather than later otherwise we might struggle to make the top 8. At 33 I don't believe we should be extending his contract. Nor for that matter should be extending Foz's contract. Both these players have swerved our mighty club well but all good careers come to an end.

Well put in the simplest of terms .Who knows , they might come good from next week onwards but only if the whole team performs .If say 3/4s of the team does play well ,Foz and Evans cannot carry them like any good and young halves pairing can in a game . Des has the final say and I hope it's not their friendship that prompts his decision .We can still win this year with a few positional changes and a couple of youngsters to debut .That is my opinion from watching them and the team in 2021 .

Foz again has been one of the few Manly players who has performed well and playing to his better level [ not a world beater but pretty solid ] these i st two fixtures . D C E well down on form or his best level . Not so much as the combination working but one obvious half;s pairing needed to lift his game and try to help to get the side on the front foot again , Maybe by starting to communicate better in the ruck defence area , getting his attacking side to be a bit deeper and smarter options Once D C E can get to the level of Foz 's useful and current input again , the pairing should be back to important working order again .

It's all well and good to give the illusion that you're a positive bloke, but your words seem quite contradictory...

If passionate supporters can't vent on a forum such as this, and give criticism re players representing their jersey, then where can they? Just because one isn't happy with a player's performance, doesn't make them a 'hater'.

If you care to have a proper look I've never directly once insulted another poster on here (well perhaps once)... what i have done is ask why fly off the handle about something so quickly without reason.

Sure we lost a few games but they aren't against crap teams. Last year was exactly the same....

Des can't coach. Sack DCE. Foran singing a huge mistake blah blah blah the all of a sudden we were world beaters. Not sure about you but even thou we went out in the preliminary final I really enjoyed last year. Some of the best footy ever seen.

The good old passionate supporter excuse is a great one. Let's have a whinge about the side without looking at facts. Facts are important in the greater picture which I guess some don't get.

I asked the simple question on are DCE and Foran playing enough as a team for the teams sake. This includes playing a bit more on the same side to create a lot more doubt in the top 4 defensive sides.

We have no problems in beating teams 5 and below, however we struggle against the top 4 sides. Penrith, Melb, Souths and East's.
We have not beaten them in the past 13 months.

If we continue to so the sane, we will get the same results, which is not featuring to have a good opportunity to win the grand final..

We should all be discussing different tactics that Manly can do to beat the top 4 teams. This is not negatively.

The only stupid question is you asking why is this even a thread. Well after almost 5 pages and 75 responses, clearly some other Silvertails also dont believe its a waste of a thread.

My supposed negativity is born from the blatant negativity on display as soon as we loose a match. I'm trying to understand why go after certain players so often and so hard when the shift they have often put in for this club is a long and fruitful one?

If we were to follow along with the knee jerk reactions round here we:

1. Wouldnt have a top 5 coach
2. Wouldnt have a Premiership winning HB
3. Wouldnt have a forward pack
4. Would have sold Tommy 18 months ago when manybon here were questioning how valuable he was to the side given his injury.

And the list goes on.

We can agree to differ on whether DCE and Foran can combine together better than they are now - I believe they can as all players need to be improving themselves.

Jamie Lyon was very good with DCE and Blake Green in 2017 was superb at 5/8th. Until that idiot Twent let him leave the club before he had signed Pearce.

I wasn't requesting Foran should be replaced after 2 games. However once Schuster is back with some match fitness, I firmly believe he shoud be given a few games at 5/8th. He can and will do better.

That was last year. It isn't the team we are playing, it's the mindset of our players. I don't think many are worried about the losses, it's more about the player behavior on the field. Disinterested, not motivated, under performing. That is the issue. That manifests and can worse each week. If not changed quickly we go back to those Barrett days.

Everyone needs to call it, if want to sit back and see well that's up to you. The players need to care about their individual performance, the team performance and they need to show pride for the supporters.

The dogs are not near the level of Riff and Easts. TPJ took it to the broncs and his buddies followed but guess what? They still lost. I doubt TPJ will play two games like that in a row. Our forwards on the other hand need to pull their fingers out and earn this win. We win the middle and we win this game comfortably. I still maintain we’ve had the worst draw so far, Penrith away in their GF homecoming plus off a toweling to the Eels and Easts off a hiding to the underrated knights. It probably doesn’t get tougher. Wouldn’t like to be the dogs next Sunday arvo.

Exactly...my thoughts also. The start is the all important factor here, Des needs to change up something on our pre-game warm up and drills and what is said in the sheds before kick off. Last week against Easts we looked tense and anxious before the game, not something to instil confidence in our supporters. Playing our first game at the new look Brookie is a big motivator for us, to come out and blow the Bulldogs out of the water.

I get what your saying but I struggle to see why after 2 losses against top 4 sides we are so incensed at the players so called lack of effort?

Personally if I break it down into 2 matches its not that bad in my mind.

1.we came up against the current champions in round 1. A side thats lost 6 times in 2 years. A side that ran out in front of its home crowd as champions for the first time in 12 months. A side that many were saying couldn't play without him or will miss them. A sidebthat had a point to prove.
Now yes I was dissapointed with the display as many were but again comps are not won in round 1. We held in there for a big part of the game with no possession and no position. Even in 21 we would have lost by 40+. To me that was progressing.

Game 2. Rooters lost to Newcastle big in round 1. Again point to prove just as we did but things didn't go our way. Not the end of the world.

The game has again changed this year thanks to tampering by the NRL. Its slow again almost back to the wrestle days. We will come good just need a bit of faith.

If its one thing I'm sure of our boys don't like losing and I'm sure they are hurting too.

We as fans take a lot of liberty being able to cheer one week and moan like a bitch next. Some of the abuse players get on this board is really sad and says a lot about some people.

If DCE was your son and some blokes were down at the pub bitching and moaning in earshot about this heart and desire im sure you might have a word.

This place isn't designed to have everyone get on. Just like the real world there will be disagreement and anger evident. We aren't all mates in the real world and in all honesty many on here would have already come to blows if it was possible. Thats life.
