Cue the numbnuts .. 1st in .. Bryce Cartwright

In Australia the flu typically causes thousands to be hospitalised each year, and during the pandemic we can't afford to have hospital beds taken up with flu victims.
People who don't have the vaccine certainly run the risk of passing the flu to others, even if they themselves avoid serious illness.
It is a matter of public health.
If you want a freedom of choice solution like dale Copley then fine, be an individual, and go camping with latrell and Josh or partying with Cleary. However I'll be quite surprised if the NRL (or the govt) allows players to play who aren't buying in to the public health emergency measures.

How many NRL players have been hospitalised as a result of the flu since 1908... specifically? I’m curious as to how many beds these lumps have taken up with their spreading of influenza over the last 113 years.

Aren’t all the players going to be in an NRL lock down environment?

Will be very interesting to see whether the guys who are opposed to the flu shot will remain steadfast if they are threatened with being kept on the sidelines.

I think the key point is the risk of passing it to others, who maybe won’t have such a mild case (goes for the flu as well as COVID-19). And I can’t believe that aspect has been virtually overlooked in every article about the Taree camping excursion - it’s the biggest issue by far. Not only the risk they ran of transmitting it to their mates and extended families, but of taking it to a regional area with far less capacity to cope with an outbreak.

I think one of the problems with the flu vaccine for those who choose not to get it is that whilst the reported number of cases resulting in death seem high, I am yet to meet someone who died from the flu. That’s not to say people don’t.

One of my father’s closest friends is an almost retired specialist surgeon who has worked in several hospitals both here and interstate. He freely admits that it is almost always underlying complications and bacterial infections which kills the vast majority of elderly people who are recorded to have died as a result of influenza.

Over the last 49 years I have known too many people who have expired from both natural and unnatural causes. Heart attacks, strokes, cancer, dementia, diabetes, MS, kidney failure, liver failure, Hodgkinsons disease, brain aneurysms, murders, car accidents, drowning, burning, smoke inhalation, suicide, drug overdoses, golden staff, poisoning, accidental mishaps, etc... the list goes on and on. But I am yet to meet anyone in my life who has died of the flu.

Before the mob starts screaming blue bloody murder, let me state very clearly that I am not an anti-vaxer, nor do I claim to be any kind of authority on the subject. I am merely stating a fact from my own personal experience after half a century of existence.

Cartwright and his ilk are fools. Don’t they realise that the lizard people create all the anti vax information on the internet. They don’t want us to vaccinate because it interferes with their plan to control us all with the viruses they release in the chemtrails.
A fellow Joe Rogan listener!

I get the flu shot every year and pretty much get the flu ever year. I felt off a couple days after getting mine this year but I'm running a lot (over 100k's a week) and did a hard run that morning so I was getting it while pretty flogged - at worst felt more tired than usual for 2 days then felt great after. Flu vax I don't really care if people get it or not - the virus mutates so the vax is always backward looking as it's impossible for it to cover mutations that haven't occurred yet or are occurring in the northern hemisphere while it's being produced for our upcoming flu season.

If you don't vax your kid for diseases that are otherwise eliminated well that's a different story...

If I was Bryce Cartwright and had been stealing a very good pay packet for several years by impersonating a footballer I would want to be keeping a low profile... especially when I have a new coach at my club who will be doing his best to weed out the non-performers... but hey that’s just me.

Now even ScoMo has decided to weigh in.
I think it's a somewhat of a delicate issue. Push back to hard and there will be significant backfire from those who don't understand the benifits that vaccination brings. But you also don't want to give the antivaxers to much of a spotlight.... unfortunately I think we already have.
If players have concerns then have them sit down with a qualified health professionals and explain their reasoning. If they are willing to examine their own concerns with the same scepticism as they have for vaccines and still come out with concerns then fine. But I'm pretty confident that for most of these guys, the reason is; "my wife told me"

@Bring back the.... Biff? Do you have any points to make on the topic at hand or are you just here to effectively provoke and bully others? Not saying others aren't blameless but I think you should seriously consider what you are doing and whether you would want others on here to turn on you in the same way.
And just to clarify this a bit: **** @Woodsie ... He deserves it 😉 But it's not a good look for the site.

This is a perfect case example of what I was attempting to remonstrate. So much so, I have taken a screenshot of the post, complete with the @Woodsie avatar. It will sit nicely in a frame beside my David Ickie “the world is being run by reptiles” conspiracy theory. Proving once more that inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes.

Fantastic ... put my photo beside the one you have of Noah setting sail in the Ark ...

Now now dont be a bad man like back then, i like you now. 😉 no surprise @yokahontas the kid laughed at that comment he still believes in theories and takes them as fact. Lmfao. He is so far up Kim jong woods butt he can taste his food

Ok biff ... let's see .. from your earlier posts in the Omnipotent being thread we have learned that you ...

Don't believe in Evolution ...
That a God made adam and Eve ...
That the story of Noah and his Ark is a true story ..
That Scientists only have theories no facts ..
That the Earth is 6000 years od
That you disbelieve any evidence of the success of vaccine immunisation .... saying what evidence do I .. Woodsie have ... good lord ..

I ... like most of your teachers I suspect .... hold no great faith in my ability to even begin to make a difference in your life ... the fact that you seem to think that the evidence for Immunisation is somehow mine, and mine to present .. rather than the accumulated knowledge and experience of the Scientific and Medical fraternity Worldwide since the first development of the successful vaccination for Smallpox in 1796 .... is bewildering ... but not surprising ..

And in the insulting stakes .... I think you have me well and truly covered ...

Why are people so unkind ..

So now Samoans Josh Papalii and Sia Soliola have come out as anti vaxxers despite being from the country whose refusal to vaccinate lead to over 60 measles deaths last year. You can't make this stuff up.

Budgie .. I heard (not confirmed) .. that the Islander lads are refusing because their religion prohibits it .....

Thinks can only get better when religion enters the equation ...

Yep. Whatever happened to the separation of church and State?
Although even Mr Hillsong said no jab no play. Interesting (and annoying) times.

Over 900 people died from the Flu last year..... I have immune compromised grandchild (3) and son in law (cancer)and being exposed to the flu is a real killer possibility for them, a jab is a small price to pay to protect the vulnerable in society.

Flu jab, measles jab. Its all about choices. Im not an anti vaxer, im a cautious vaxer. Always take care of what you put in your body especially if its endorsed by government, and the vaccination explosion.

Community aside, individuals do suffer for the cause of the herd. No one is cool with it being there kid

The gov message that schools are safe was not taken by parents if you look at stats of absenteeism. They acted against governments medical advice , just like anti vaxers

The personal responsibility of a flu vaccine or covid app, or measles is the same personal responsibility that many people dont adhere too in many other parts of our life, such as

Social distancing currently
Speeding and driving reckless
Drink driving
Going to work sick to spread flu
Second hand smoke
Smoking and drinking pregnant

Outcomes can be the same, but these are all under the " not his go " and accepted to a point as a moral standpoint

How many of the righteous truely are

But the NRL is an international organisation, these issues arise, solve them without playing god. The canberra players played that card already.

Cartwright is no loss to the comp but its a sad day if they just expel him for this stance. Maybe it would be safer to replace him with a 15 year old kid, them suckers are immune if you listen to the same gov,

Ive randomly had flu jabs over the years. Cant say it really helped . I havnt had anti biotics in 25 years , not because i dont get sick but because ive never found a doctor that thinks im worthy. Come back next week, come back, come back next week. How long have you had that cough ? 8 weeks. You should never have a cough that long. Thats bad. Come back next week.
