Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

I think he deserved the extension. Would doubt though other clubs would be looking to potentially poach him. Hope he however makes himself poachable over the next couple of years…

Aside form the obvious advantages of stability for the club, with the Nov 1 rule in place, we need a coach signed for 2026, players re-signing or on market these days always want to know who is coaching them. Seibold seems to have a good rapport with our current team and a decent reputation these days to help attract talent. I would imagine our "spine of the future" was attracted in some way because of him. He has done a decent job thus far and IMO deserved an extension.

Looking in from the outside I see Boldy as being a holistic coach aiming to not only make players better footballers but better rounded humans. I admire the new direction the club has taken under the overarching banner 'The Manly Way', which plays heavily on our proud history as well as connecting to fans like us. We seem to have recruited a well credentialled off-field team to give our squad all the support they should need to succeed.
I'm undecided as to whether he is a good tactician; time will tell. Will he make the tough decisions and return Sandwich to the wing and Jurbo to the front row? Silvertailers think he should, but let's hope he know what's better for the team than we do.

MANLY’S TURBO BOOST​

Manly coach Anthony Seibold says winning without Tom Trbojevic last season was a major growth area for his team as he ponders how to negotiate with a tricky string of games this year.

The Sea Eagles have identified two points of the season where they may need to manage some players in a bid to keep them fit at the business end of the season.

Manly play three games in 11 days between round 10-12, which includes a road trip to Townsville. Earlier in the season they will play three matches in 12 days, including a visit to Perth in rounds 5-7.

“This isn’t talking specifically around ‘Turbo’ (Trbojevic), but we’re going to have to do some advanced planning,” Seibold said.

Anthony Seibold says winning without Tom Trbojevic last season was a major growth area for his team.

“We’re just going to have to really plan ahead, whether we travel early, whether we do hit-and-run trips, whether we rotate some players. We haven’t come up with the answers yet, but they’re all questions that we need to debate because it is a really sort of funny draw for us.

“So we have to be smart about our program. I’m not convinced we need to rest players or rotate players, but all those questions are on the table and internally as a staff, we need to try and debate them. I just know for us to get to where we want to go, we want ‘Turbo’ in the side.”

Manly has traditionally struggled when Trbojevic has been sidelined through injury. It won two of the four games Trbojevic missed at the midpoint of last season, with Lehi Hopoate impressing at the back.

“One of the big areas for growth for us was to be able to win big games without Turbo, right?” Seibold said. “Because typically that’s been the knock on Manly.

“Turbo, in my opinion, is in the top two or three players in the game, period. He is outstanding. The knock on Manly has been we can’t win without Turbo. And the results back that up. But one of the things we were able to do this year was win some big games without Turbo, which was an area for growth for us.”

He over achieved in 24 or mine. He got this group to be more consistent and make finals. Going better again in 25 is going to take some luck. 2025 needs to be all about our defence. We showed growth at times, but over the season, not as much growth there as I would have liked.

Hindsight says dropping Simpkins for the finals wasn't the right move.

But benching AOA and promoting Lodge was.

Keeping Lehi in the top grade, even on a foreign wing was absolutely the right move.

He might be human, but he's doing just fine.

I like that he (& or club) are letting the supporters know a little about the team & what's happening around it. He also gives young talent an opportunity. Those two things alone is refreshing.

2025 is a real test , he’s improved each year , and now finally getting close to the side that he’s put together.

Injuries will play a huge part in how it goes.

I’m going to make a bold prediction, we’ll finish 4th.

What happens after that , who knows.

He’s built significantly more depth in the squad and that competition for spots has resulted in way more consistency. The difference between and our best and worst is closer than it’s been for years.

But he’s yet to prove that he can take us all the way.

We can attack , from almost anywhere , I don’t think that’s our issue and I’m pretty sure he knows it too and why we’ve signed the two we have , and no one else.

We have some good defenders but lazy ( at times ) news as well, if I was the coach I’d certainly be saying to the forwards group “ no one is safe “.
