Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

I think Seiblod is underrated as a coach, he is a former player, an academic, clear communicator and a leader.

For me what I have seen from Seibold he is a strategic visionary who emphasises both performance and player well-being.

With the complexity of the game and the high stakes involved, Seibold is not just a tactician but also a skilled leader who can inspire and manage a diverse team of footballers and coaching staff.

His leadership style is adaptable, allowing him to tailor his approach to meet the individual needs of players while maintaining the overall cohesion and culture of the team.

Supporting Seibold is a robust staff of over 20 specialists, each contributing to the team's success. This team typically includes assistant coaches with expertise in specific areas such as defense, attack, and skills coaching etc.

This extensive support network allows Seibold to focus on strategic planning and leadership, ensuring that every aspect of player development and team performance is optimized for success.

He hasn’t had the success of the best performed coaches in Bellamy, Cleary or Bennett but I have seen enough to have some confidence it will happen with the progress he has been part of since taking the head coaching position.
Can't help thinking some fans don't rate him simply because he doesn't look like he's about to punch a wall (or a player) the way a proper macho real Aussie male would do (or so they think).

Others it seems don't rate him because he failed at the Broncos. The old 'once you've lost you can never come back' theory. (I suspect that particular theory was disproved sometime back in the earliest days of homo sapiens existence on planet earth, but hey you don't need to know history to be a footy fan!)

2025 is the year we need to see improvement and consistency. These are not flick of the switch issues and all of the players must buy into it. I hope his selections this year are based on promoting success rather than loyalty to individual players. Good coaches make the hard calls.

No one likes every one for various reasons
But it is hard for everyone not to like a Manly Premierships Winner
Seibold is only one Manly premiership Win away from ALL of our Passionate Manly H <3 arts

Winning is where the Manly Heart is

At the of the day all our qualifications count for nothing if we do not start over achieving .
The overachievers are never underrated
True @BOZO, though he has had progressive results each year he has been with the club.

He has spoken open and honestly of his past and communication from the club has been better since he joined.

Just in regard to assistant coaches or specialist type assistant coaches , must be a part dilemma sometimes when some specialist coaches are engaged by more then one club .
Probably no big deal in the general sense and the professional approach to largely apply but maybe sometimes a bit of a partisan sub conscious mindset possibly not that far off having some influence
Even with the fairly hands on coaching style of Des with Manly in his first stint , a not insignificant role by a few specialist type assistant coaches .
Plenty of opportunities for budding or aspiring assistant coaches in the N R L with all of the 2 nd or 3 rd tier comps , QLD cup, N S W high level comps and so on .
Probably more of an issue trying to develop and establish top level and competent N R L standard refs

Just my perspective point of view feathered friend
I base my perspective on our Legendary clubs Inspirational high Premiership Winning standards

I do not not call missing out on the top 8 progressive's in his first year
In his second year he made the top 8 with a roster that was capable of making the top 8

Is he capable of overachieving and Winning a Premiership ?
I doubt it .... and for the love of our beloved club I hope I am wrong because I despise Manly losing and I have no time for losers that waste our Manly Winning time .
Over a decade without premiership success at Manly is a very long suffering and painful time

Let’s acknowledge that Bellamy & his system is probably the best.

Cleary ( with junior & the cream of the crop coming through in droves) is next up.

Bennett , the jury is out , past Supercoach BUT??

Robinson , gets the best players bought for him but has lacked recent success.

So there’s your top 4.

Manly are never getting any of those coaches to defect to us , so wax lyrical all you like but Seibold is no worse and in fact a good deal better than the rest of the ones not listed above.

The Manly Winning Way is Never say Never
The Manly Winning Way is Never Settle for Seibold Second best types
The Manly Winning Way is Finding a Way
This Is What All Great Premiership Winning clubs have done to find their way to the top

Cleary , Bennet Bellamy , Robbo , Madge All premiership Winning coaches All started Inexperienced ,Untried and Under established

The Moral of the Manly Way story ...
The Manly Way is not all about submitting to second best and comfort zone Excuses
The Manly Way is All about Finding a Way and Winning

How long was it before Cleary won a premiership ( many years ) so @BOZO your methodology is somewhat flawed.

Your opinion of Seibold stems largely from his time at the Broncos , but I know for a fact that he was undermined by the old boys club.

Maguire , with full support of their CEO & board is eradicating completely the old boys group from having anything to do with that club , the sacking of Walter’s was first , the sacking of Langer was second. There is now almost no connections , from a football department perspective with the playing group.

Seibold was shafted from within , they hated the fact he got the job over their champion , Kevvie Walter’s , and we all know how that ended.

The fact feathered friend that you cannot deny is Seibold has improved our performance year on year, that cannot be in dispute.

So he’s not a dud , but I would concur just like Cleary in his early days he hasn’t won a GF yet !!

BUT, as Ive said , 2025 has to be top 4 and a shot at making the GF for him to truly be considered a good coach.

If we were to win a GF he must go down as a great coach.

Time will tell.

Realistically Siebold is 5 years away from showing what he can do.

Once Walsh, Large et al are making First Grade, and the remnant of the dead wood from the Barrett/Hasler era is fully cleared out, we will see how good a coach he really is.

All he has been able to do so far is make iterative improvements to a highly dysfunctional system.

You are right , but by gee there’s loads that expect instant success and blame him if that doesn’t happen.

We are improving , he’s setting up a good system , but Rome wasn’t built overnight.

Yeh the cap looks very tight for the next two seasons from listening to Mestrov today.

The best thing for the club is to have a coach signed up for a few seasons long term planning fosters sustainable success and builds a strong foundation for the team's future.

By prioritizing long-term goals, Seibold can develop a cohesive team culture, nurture young talent, and implement strategic systems that align with the club's values and objectives.

This approach may not hit the success we all want though it allows for gradual improvement and adaptation, helping the team withstand the inevitable challenges and pressures of the game.

Moreover, having Seibold extended is good for long-term planning which encourages investment in player development, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled footballers who can contribute to the team's success over time.

While instant success may provide short-term satisfaction, a focus on long-term planning ultimately enhances team resilience, stability, and the ability to compete at a high level consistently, well done to the club’s administration for recognising the gap and extending Seibold.

Seibold's position was in the balance towards to later part of last season. I consider that with the roster we had we actually underachieved last year losing games against sides like the Tigers and hemorrhaged far too many points in the last three games of the season. We should have finished in the top four but fell flat at the later part of the season. I expect that if our defence doesn't improve and we keep losing games we should win it will be goodbye Seibold. He did just enough to survive in 2024. I support the decision to give him another season however I'd would have only extended him for one year with a option in our favour for the second.
