Got home late just watched delayed on kayo wow do Manly know how to play dumb at times but win ugly and I'll take it
Some good performances there Funa and Harper , So missing a good hooker and 5/8 , Hopefully Schuster and Fainu next year can fill that void

What to make of that ! Lost for words tbh, that first 30 was terrible although we did have a couple of nice breaks with the ball. It felt like the standard of game I wander down and watch at the local park at times. The quality best summed up by the Taupau try

Funa, must be in our starting 5 somewhere next season, just looks a natural footballer

Harper, impressive, definitely something to work with there

Cust, I’ve tried my best, but can’t warm to him as a skilled footy player, love his effort and what he tries to bring, but he is Travis Burns 2.0

Hopoate, showed some natural ability with the offloads and was very pleasing to see him go looking for work this week

The commentary was appalling, best summed up by them raving about Albert holding his brother up when it was all Harper
Cust has energy but imo he’s not a starting nrl half. Keep him in the 28 as a backup and he will help fill in. Haha burns 2.0 not bad.
Yep Hoppa showed a bit more tonight.
Although u need to play what’s in front of you, that dogs team is not nrl standard so we shouldn’t get too excited. I think the titans will be a better test.

Its going to be interesting. Turbo is about the only one not there right now who I would guarantee gets a spot. Walker, Suli, Garrick, plus Parker ... its going to be interesting.
Suli is gone for 8 months, Garrick is gone so
Walker to center, Harper center, Hoppa Jr and Funa wings, Schuster 5/8, Cust to #14.

From what Des said in presser, maybe selection headaches this week with Turbo, Garrick (these two most likely) & Walker to return.

Don't be so sure Garrick is gone. Apparently his injury is such that he's due back either next week or the final round. And I really can't see us swapping him for Saab either. He's contracted until the end of 2021 and I believe he'll be one of us until at least then.

Yes, probably the best back line this year, but Des is unlikely to drop Parker who had a reasonable game tonight. This probably points to Hoppa (as well as Miski) being dropped which would be unfortunate as he is just starting to gain match fitness & form. In the long term, I think Funa & Harper should have permanent places in the team. Looking good for the future (2021) even though it was only the Bulldogs tonight. :)

Benchmark Perspective

Feels so good getting a win as Manly is not all bout losing

How good were we ?
As good as the last placed team in the comp allowed us to be
Even Big Marty Kappow was made to look as good as Phil Blake with a chip and chase try
I rate players quality performances when they are up against quality opposition
