More “seasoned” players returning from injury

I think Des will only play Burbo if he really needs to.

I’m not sure if you are saying I think De Luis is “seasoned” or if he falls under the same only play if really required.

before covid stuffed everything up again i was going to say i thought des should drop him to reggies because playing 5 - 10 minutes a game each week is no good for his fitness, now hopefully they can put their spare players in the qrl cup to keep them fit. maybe he will start there

DeLuxe is a good old fashioned prop; the type that Jack Gibson always had in his team. He makes his tackles, takes his licks, doesn't make mistakes and knows his role.
He won't be in our top 17, and while you only need one of these type of players in a team I'm impressed with the contribution he is making to the squad.

He's a middle forward and Burbo isn't. Running with Lawton and Walker on bench you can't afford another backrower there as well. Burbo is competing with Lawton for a bench spot and I'd have Lawton any day at the moment. We saw how Jetski went in that middle forward role last week - that's why Deluis is there. You just need honest props that are willing to do the basics.

Different roles and positions. DL is just a cart the ball up - no frills - Matt Dunford, David Hosking type prop but probably without half their "talent". He is just there for rotation and because we are short on forwards. He also has the nuggety build to take a hammering. Burbo is not the take a heap of hit ups into the meat of the opposition pack type of player and is a backrower. Burbo needs to grow some more - and play on an edge. With Lawnton and Schu back - Burbo simply was not needed as an edge backrower.

sorry I meant into the game - experience wise. Hard to do obviously without game time but he is just too raw right now.

Always got the impression Burbo would be tested this year but that 2022 was to be the year he aimed to break out for a permanent spot. Who's next? Koula for sure but I doubt this year (maybe a game late in the season). Then probably Weekes, Sione if he stays. Next years boys I suspect

He's still raw though, like a big kid.

He needs a bit of time to physically mature into a man but he's not far off.

I agree, I think Des has given Burbo just enough game time to whet his appetite for first grade & keep him motivated for coming in more next year.

I was somewhat critical of Des last year (my opinion) in respect of his selections and feared he was heading in Barrett's direction. This year in my opinion he's handling selections well. Burbo needed to be tried out and its happened. Koula is not quite ready from what I gather but great hopes for 2022. Hope Sione Fainu continues to develop. Looks a beast. My only sad point is Cust. He's been underutilised but I guess with Croker finding another leg, DCE and Foran almost assured of the half positions with Schuster waiting in the wings, there's just not much space. I'm fearful we'll lose him. But kudos to Des ...in my opinion

He was and tough as. Also slow as lol lol. All heart though and a fan favourite.
