Spot on @Budgie . Croker won awards because he's playing above his pay grade and showing character personified. If anyone thinks he won those awards because he excelled in his position as a 9 , something is seriously wrong.
You have to admire what Croker has achieved, and the character he's shown. But having 0 spark from dummy half , no running or kicking game, but a wholehearted player that tackles his heart out means we'll continue to beat one or two top 8 teams all season tops , and one top 4 team in 3 years.
That statistic is a TERRIBLE advertisement for both Des and the club. Who's to fault though?
Des for choosing this system and sticking with it so long, or recruitment who's seen a glaring hole, put all their eggs in a basket that stabs people , shares naked photos of young women to the masses, and white-ants the club on social media with ex-players?
Tigers needed a hooker - Koroisou
Dogs needed a hooker - Mahoney
Parra need a hooker - Hodgson
Dolphins needed a Hooker - marshall-king
Roosters needed a hooker - B Smith
Etc etc etc - I could actually keep going, showing plenty of quality specialist 9's moved clubs.

Same boat as Tuilagi, Condon and Matterson mate. Wouldn't get a run anywhere else but the half-way house.
Tell you something about Matterson. He was NOT in demand from any other club. He's another player that was out of his depth, but showed character and heart. His agent actually shopped him around because he was out of contract.
Despite the Eels losing a HOST of players and being desperate for forwards next season, he wasn't offered a gig, so he got offered a ONE year deal from a struggling Manly, and that was the only offer.
Similar to Condon who wasn't getting offered any contract, either. Mounties won 6, lost 18 this year. That's who we are signing the players player from. At 24, he couldn't even break into a deplorable Bulldogs team.
For the record, he was already with us in 2018, and we let him go (for the 2019 season) I believe? Don't quote me on that last bit @Disco I may be wrong

Hey mate, I don’t know much about Matterson but trust your judgment that he is likely out of his depth. What did you mean by him not being able to make the Bulldogs team? I thought the Mounties are the feeder club for the Eels. Thanks RP.

Look, maybe I'm being too harsh on the kid. He's only 24. Just frustrating, Roache, Boyle, Fulton, Condon, Matterson, Tuilagi etc etc etc. Just getting to me.
I do know he's progressively running more and more metres on average per year, This year in a crap Mounties team, he averaged 120 metres per game (played 20 of 24 games). Made 26-27 tackles per game.
I've gotto get the image of watching him play for our junior teams in 2018 out of my head - he was just a kid.

No, and for another matter, doesn't look like it will be happening either. No-one knows who's going to be coaching here - the uncertainty is scaring players off, on top of what looks like externally a fractured playing group.
Yeah that's not good, as it stands we have signed Tuilagi, condon, matterson and Roache. How bloody underwhelming

Taufua likely on 200k
Davey likely on 200k or there abouts.

Secondly, I'd be fine with Fulton playing in the development squad, but if he's in our top 30, we are ****ed. He's no Gift, Choc, Beaver, Olakau'atu coming through - put it that way. He's a novelty because of his last name alone.
Yeah I heard Tuilagi was pretty decent around 500k even so we should have enough to sign another couple good players. Parker, Croker, Harper all be on minimal coin

No way in HELL a plod from a bottom of the ladder team that averages nominal metres, makes no impact & looks unmotivated gets 500k. He'd be getting 250k TOPS mate, any more, we got completely fleeced. He should be lucky to make our bench over Bullemor (who I think adds more).

I say he starts mate and he should not given how bloody awful he has looked, the Eagles bloke on Twitter with inside knowledge of club mentioned it earlier in year.
I can't for the life of me understand we chased Luke Garner for 2 seasons finally off contract and don't go after him.
I agree if he demonstrates he is ready then he is ready, my point is, dont rush him. If he isnt ready for grade dont throw him in and hope for a miracle if we are struggling.

When easts got ravaged by injuries they gave Walker a chance and he never looked back. If we need help Latu should be played. My fear is the coaches reluctance to take a punt on younger players and only as a last resort will he play them.
