I would make a play for the Panthers ressies props. Either Blacker or Henry. Both big, mobile units. Blacker's try against Blacktown was impressive. Given Lodge is out for 1/2 2024 and apparently won't be in the cap we have a bit of room. $300k should get us Blacker!!!

Would also like Naufua Whyte from the Goosters who was rumoured on here a while back.

Condon, Tuilagi, Croker and Fulton all under contract.

Now I dont disagree but like anything the devil is in the detail.

If we can get anyone to take Condon, Tuilagi or Fulton at their contract rate then perfect let em go.

I dont see value in us chipping in, perhaps a small % for Tuilagi pending ehat he is on but the other two I imagine are on near base so they go at full freight or go.

Croker has the same consideration but also the added factor of needing someone to replace him.

Jayden Berrell, Brandon Clarke, Jayden Nikorima, Nathaniel Roache, Jake Turpin re the current off contract 9s for 2024. None are better than Croker (though Turpin and Berrell could be useful squad options).

The worry is 2024 is not much better.

Gordon Chan Kum Tong, Lachlan Croker, Jake Granville, Mitch Kenny, Freddy Lussick, Peter Mamouzelos, Rua Ngatikaura, Jake Simpkin, Tom Starling, Billy Walters, Zac Woolford.

So we are in a tight spot there and have to look towards contracted players maybe wanting out or hoping Gordie kicks on.

Anyhoo.....agree that any of the 4 I'm happy to move on but the conditions have to be right.

In terms of affordable options we could bring in

1) Kayal Iro - off contract at the end of 2024 but stuck behind Ramien and Talaki and could look at a release. Hugely talented, should be playing firsts. Would walk into my 2024 Manly backline

2) Connor Watson - I know, I know, last thing we need is another crock.....its certainly a risky punt but the upside is there. Would be a great 14 option and with his history wouldn't command the world.

3) Naufahu Whyte - averages over 200m a game in reggies and a over 90% tackle efficiency. Young, hard middle forward with upside

I think Watson just resigned with the roosters.

This right here with the NEW spots being the key thing we need to address. I’d keep Croker as a depth player or even still part of the hooker rotation, but he can’t continue to play 80 minutes as we all know it isn’t sustainable. If Gordon isn’t the guy to rotate him with, then we need to sign someone because I think Lawton is too injury prone and slow now to fulfill that role.

I’d also keep Matterson as I like what I’ve seen from him so far and think he can be a useful NRL player. The rest (bar the Fainu’s who are leaving anyway) can all definitely go as they’ve made up the poor depth we’ve had to rely on so much recently with the countless amount of injuries we’ve had.

It's unfortunate that Latu & Samuela are not in the mix. If there are no new signings, this would be my preferred 2024 team.

Honestly mate, that's the slowest, most lumbering group of plonking forwards in the entire NRL.May as well throw Condon, Boyle in there.

Where's Keppie?

Imagine them all in a race! It would actually be funny watching them attempt to run 100 metres flat stick.

We need new forwards and a new specialist 9.

It's not that different to your team, except you're hoping to add two recruits (unsigned as yet). Keppie can be good on his day, but is error prone, as is Aloiai. Also, I'd prefer GCKT over Lawton who has not impressed in his stints as dummy half.

If available, Best would be a very positive purchase. As far as attacking no. 9s go, Ipape would be worth chasing. However, I think Flanagan is trying to secure him for the Dragons.

Agree. Lawton is all heart and but not a great dummy half. A good utility but unfortunately his body is failing him.
