DCE RESPONDS TO CRITICS

Manly skipper Daly Cherry-Evans responded to his critics in the best way possible – by leading his team to their first win of the season.

The 32-year-old has copped the brunt of Manly’s woeful start to the season. He’s the skipper, the halfback and the game’s highest player so with that triple whammy it’s hard for him to escape criticism.

Fox League analyst Michael Ennis even suggested that coach Des Hasler should consider offloading the No.7 to free up cap space.

But Cherry-Evans proved if Manly are going to move forward they need to do it with the Queensland Origin halfback leading them around the park.

Cherry-Evans set up both of Manly’s tries and nailed the matchwinning field goal in the final four seconds.

It should come as no surprise though. Cherry-Evans has kicked a matchwinning field goal now in three of Manly’s last five wins over the Warriors.

It’s those plays in pressure moments that prove Manly need him.

“The out of form half, the down on his luck captain delivers for the Sea Eagles,” Fox League commentator Matt Russell said.

“It just had to be DCE. Their field goal specialist, their captain, their man criticised during the first month of the competition. His side winless and desperate and Daly delivers.”

Apparently tomorrow but I've offered him an olive branch out
So what is the point of the bet then? He’ll do it, appears to be a stand up guy.

Because theres a bet, and there's being a gentleman. If I didn't extend the olive branch, then what what sort of gentleman am I?

Having a friendly bet doesn’t negate being a gentleman. It’s all a bit of light fun.

True and for the record I fully intended to have their logo here if we lost. It's all fun and I think it creates amazing banter amongst groups.

I'd really like to see a good link between the groups and sites a
Couldn’t agree more.

Shame it took him 5 games.

Gutsy win from the guys it was a great feeling....i am still not convinced 1 win is the answer but its a start so lets enjoy that winning feeling and hopefully we can feel it again next week

“Officer of the Watch, Captain, dive the submarine.”

“Aye Aye Sir, dive the submarine. Helm, Bridge, sound the klaxon twice.”

I am in the photo. A door prize to the first person who picks me out on the casing.;)
Wow they are going to dive the sub while all those poor guys are on top!!
Are you the one at the front who just slipped on a banana peel?

No, it wasn't just you Ryan. He was trying his best to give them help to get in front. It was lucky that we did those first two Captain's Challenges because obviously he was wrong on those occasions and the first Set Restart in the first half, I have replayed it a half a dozen times and for the life of me, I still can't see why it was awarded. The first one in the second half was the same and their was one penalty there that was awarded against us I couldn't see what it was for and either could Blocker who was death riding us all night too.
How good is the Captains Challenge? Allows us to challenge the obvious dud decisions. It also makes the refs giving dud decisions think twice as they know they might be challenged and be shown to be wrong.
Not sure why the ref said we couldn't challenge the decision about Harper's play the ball where he was being pushed down and still played it with his foot.

The Harper decision that went against us was a farce, the Warriors marker first of all was not square, also impeded Harpers attempt at the play the ball and for me it was an obvious six again, Not sure why that did not happen?
